Today was supposed to be a glorious day. The day Princess Cadence would marry Shining Armor, captain of Canterlot's Royal Guard. However, unbeknownst to everyone except a small handful, the Cadence at the wedding was not the real Cadence. Queen Chrysalis, the ruler of the Changeling Hive, had taken on the form of Cadence as part of her plan to invade Equestria and take it over. This plan nearly succeeded had it not been for two individuals. Spike the Dragon and Twilight Sparkle. The two of them managed to successfully uncover her ruse and forced the queen to have her forces attack prematurely.
While Twilight and the girls handled business elsewhere, Spike was freed from his sealing collar and was given an order. Defend Equestria at all costs. This was the order he had been secretly waiting for for a long time now. Finally, he'd be allowed to let loose and with an opponent that could handle what he could dish out. Probably. He'll cross that bridge when he got to it.
