Oogie Boogie for me is one of those "always the bridesmaid, never the bride" kind of characters. While he is undoubtedly one of the best parts of Nightmare Before Christmas-(my favorite film of all time)-he'll always take a second seat to Jack Skellington. The irony in this though is that Oogie Boogie featured in my very first countdown, while Jack wouldn't do so until 6 years later! Still, he's only ever ranked second best while Jack brought home the gold. Even here, he's just shy of placing within the Top Ten; though that may just be because I couldn't pass up the opportunity of referring to the "ELEVEN~" scene from the film.

I wanted something that captured all facets of Oogie Boogie much like I did with Jack, but with Oogie's distinctive casino-based flare. All this said, Oogie Boogie is still one of my favorite villains, but his place will always be second. After all, he said it himself, he is 'the shadow on the moon at night.' He's a big mass of bugs always creeping in the darkness. Try as he might to beat Jack at his own game, he'll never be more then just someone caught in the Pumpkin King's shadow.
