I lost my momentum from the first two images this month because I tried to draw a new character - which takes much longer than drawing an existing one, even accounting for mild design changes from my different art style. I'm compromising by doing edits of show-style Friendship is Magic vectors into concept art of original pony characters.
This image was edited from a vector of Adult Sweetie Belle (#2678830)
Belle Lettre's grandpa liked making hats. A lot. So much so that his son, Belle's father, was absolutely sick of hats and only relented when he saw how darn cute Belle looked in one.
But Belle didn't want to make hats. Belle grew up on stories of princes rescuing princesses from mean witches and thought love letters were the most sacred things imaginable. And so she became a courier in the hopes of improving the postal network so that every filly, jenny, mare, and hen could find love through rain & snow & gloom of night, if she had to deliver every single box of chocolates and sappy poem in Equestria all by herself.
Of course, her grandpa couldn't abide a courier who didn't have a nice hat...
Belle Lettre is an albaric, a term I've derived from the al'Buraq of Islamic mythology. The original creature is described with long ears, wings, and is compared to donkeys and mules (though not explicitly named as either.) For my purposes an albaric is the donkey equivalent to a pegasus and has their general powers.
