Looking back, one of my biggest regrets was changing my Halloween Countdowns from 31 to 13 from 2018-2020. While it was born purely out of necessity at the time, I hated to sacrifice the quantity of something which is so important to me, but such is life. Quantity doesn't always equal quality and despite it feeling like a black mark on my record, I can safely admit that I managed to produce some great content that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise, especially when in regards to the 2018 "Send in the Clowns" countdown.
A countdown entirely based around evil clowns was a theme I had wanted to do for years prior but honestly, I can't even think of 31 evil clowns, let alone ones I'd warrant putting into a 'best of' category! If it weren't for toning back the scale of my countdown that year, I may still be pining for my big clown-based hurrah that never was, so beauty from ashes I suppose. Who knows, maybe I'll do another small countdown if I have a theme I really like but can't think of enough material for... but I wouldn't place money on that.
Of course, when you're only do a top 13 of evil clowns, you simply can't do it without the infamous Pennywise. A clown so synonymous with coulrophobia that he essentially created it in the west! With a character so intertwined with mind-boggling fear, I wanted to focus more on the inexplicable horror that was 'IT' and less the on the human-clown facade of 'Pennywise'- also I had very little 'horror' to show in this countdown made for the literal 'horror-based holiday', so it was probably a good thing to do, right?
