1983 saw the release of "Potty Monster", a horror movie involving several teen furs at a bedwetting support camp. The film was such a success for Big Diaper Studios that they produced four sequels, and 1987's "Potty Monster III" was widely considered the best of the franchise. It descended into campy comedy in the later installments, but PM3 featured the scariest potty monster yet, along with the vicious little training potties that would hide in dark corners and attack hapless victims. It was so scary that theaters had to install plastic seats to deal with the many accidents sustained by the audience. Soon diapers were mandatory, and this practice continued at raucous midnight screenings to this day.

The film series was rebooted by A24 in 2018 as "The Potty Monster", a more psychological take on the franchise in which the titular monster was played by Nicolas Cage.  In the original films the monster was voiced by Tim Curry.

The VHS and your description were convincing enough that I actually had to Google to make sure it wasn't real lol! "How the heck did I miss that one?"
Made me think of toilet man in Look Whos Talking Too.

Is this real?

No. It's a parody of old horror films.

Thought so, but he had me for a moment. Also, a bit like the British "Video Nasties" of the time as well.

Same. I thought it was an underground diaper-based horror film. But I had my doubts.

I thought Ari Aster's take on the story was quite brilliant.  While I miss the more vivid effects of the OG version, the way the story ended up as an allegory for parents who push their children to grow up too quickly was effective.

true, and the campy feel of parts 4 and 5 needed to go.  the A24 version also had a lot more explicitly shown pants pooping

"I don't want to be a big kid anymore" breaks my heart every time I hear that line.

Fun fact, at one point they were planning on a kid-friendly spinoff cartoon, like what happened with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Toxic Avenger and Little Shop of Horrors. It fell through, but I'd have been down myself.

I recognize that 3 is the best, but I... have goofy memories of 4 that make it so that I can't fully hate it. The fake Pull-Up ad scene still gets me.
