As the story starts, we get to learn a little about Mobian History- namely regarding the mysterious 'Wellborn' and their ultimate fate in the world. We also get to meet the Scientific Council, which is made up of a group so diverse, you'd scarcely believe they could assemble in one room, much less work toward the same cause! But the reason why they're there walks in the door shortly, and the wheels are set in motion...
Hmmn..you know, I can almost see this being a sort of Star Wars crawl as we zoom in on Mobius, then skim the clouds until they break over Mobotropolis and the story begins.

I always envisioned the intro lasting a good 5 minutes, and with a narrator instead of a text crawl, over a series of detailed watercolors that show the universe, the galaxy, system, planet, etc. then illustrate various bits and pieces of the history as they come up in the narration. Music would be something less Williams-y, and more this style.
I think it's neat to see how people interpret the same thing through so many different visualizations.
