Don't you know anything about gaining abilities in anime do anything enough times and you gain the ability then use the ability enough and it evolves and changes to something usually more powerful so revive yourself enough times by sacrificing your followers to where you just revive on your own without having to sacrifice your followers and those that were sacrificed that were devoted followers might gain your ability to revive on thier own

Late-game I find it more worthwhile to eat my followers before going out on a Crusade.
It's nice to have a safety net. It's just rough that using it makes the follower ineligible for resurrection. You're not killing them, you're devouring their soul.
