One should also keep in mind that the current Starwife might easily have another 20 years left in her, especially with various mentioned health potions. Though I assume she herself knows quite well how long she has left - the blessing of seeing the future that well can sometimes be a curse. I don't know if I would *want* to know when and how fate has scheduled my end.
Although that also rises the question to what degree the future is fixed and to what degree it can be changed.

The starwife is very wise and experienced in her magical abilities. She knows the perils of looking at one's own future, so she doesn't do it. When she asked Gabby to give her a reading, she knew what she could be getting into. But she really wanted to see the young cat's abilities and methods.
In their world, I think of the future as intertwined as opposed to fixed. And when it comes to Tarot cards and crystal balls, there is a lot that's open to interpretation. That's why someone like Gabby needs someone like Elysia to take her on as an apprentice.
