I made some fakemon based around where I live. A group of friends of mine were talking about it, and throwing out possoms and raccoons, but I wanted to take it farther and actually pick animals that are important and specific to the area. As much as possoms and Raccoons would be crazy cool as pokemon, i think they are best for wild ones and not starters.
Charkit: Charkit's fur is flammable, giving it its black color. Based off of a Fox Squirrel and Charcoal Burning. This pokemon is in reference to Coal mines. Keeping in the zodiac theme, this would take the place of Rodent.
Tuloary: Tuloary hide in the trees camouflaged as leaves waiting for unsuspecting Bug Pokemon to pass by to eat. Based off of the Hoary bat, Tulip leaf Tree, and Dogwood Tree. This is reference to PA State tree and Native tree. Species is bat as Grass starters tend to be extinct and there were bats that were near extinct here.
Ripplet: Ripplet live in rivers near coal mines. because of mine drainage, the top of their bodies are turned orange. Ripplets are based off of spotted salamanders, Orange newts, Allegheny salamanders, and the orange Acid mine water drainage into the rivers.
