It was a calm July afternoon as a small RV pulled into the mountain campgrounds. As the engine came to a stop, the driver's door opened and out stepped a Young male Husky named Lewis, just 21 years old. He stood just under 5’ 10” and had a lean and slightly muscular build, a light gray fur coat and a white gray belly. He smiled as he stepped out of the truck, groaning as he stretched after his hours-long drive. He then inhaled deep and exhaled loudly as he took in the mountain air.

“Oh yeah, this is where it’s at. Warm and clean air, clean running water, and all the fish we can catch,” She said, looking around with a smile. He then went to the back of the RV and Knocked on the side door. A second later the door opened and out walked a small group of the young huskies stepped out of the RV. They were Lewis’s friends, all of similar age to him. 3 guys and 2 girls stepped before finally his best friend stepped out, another young male husky named Marcus. He was slightly smaller than Lewis, and had a smaller build as well, but the two had been friends since birth and were inseparable.

“Dang Husk, you know all the good Camping spots,” One of the other guys said looking around.

“Of course, Husker and I came up here all the time as kids,” Marcus said smiling, “It’s been so long though, what with college and all.”

“I told you we’d get back up here someday, and I always keep a promise,” Lewis said smiling. “Now enough dickin 'around. Let's get this campsite set up.”

The group nodded and then began setting up camp. Pitching tents, digging a fire pit, and setting up the cooking gear took them all an hour to do. They then headed out to the lake nearby and started fishing for dinner. They took a good few hours, talking, laughing and having a few beers before heading back to the camp. They then took the evening cooking their catches, talking, laughing, and having more beers.

As the sun started to set behind the mountain and the day turned to night, the group set back and relaxed. Soon enough, Lewis stood from his chair and held his stomach.

“Man, I didn’t know how fast beer would go through me. I’ll be right back. I have to piss,” He said, heading out to the woods. He headed out far enough away for the camp and p[ulled down his pants, starting to pee on a tree. Half way through, he heard a growling coming from the bushes. He looked over to where the noise came from, and saw two glowing lights. Before he could react, a huge wolf burst out of the bush and pinned the Husky to the ground. Lewis only had a second to throw up his arm and block as the wolf went for his throat. The wolf's teeth suck into his arm, making him yell out in pain. This alerted the rest of the group, getting them to run over. Lewis continued to fight, punching and clawing at the wolf as it nawed and shook his arm. Marcus led the charge at the wolf, jumping up to catch and break off a branch, as the others picked up and started throwing rocks. With their combined efforts, the wolf let go and ran off deep into the woods.

“HUSK! My god! Are you ok,” Marcus said, Kneeling down and starting to help Lewis to his feet.

“Ugh! Yeah, I think I'm ok….wolf got me good though. Need to get back to camp,” Lewis said, holding his arm. They then made their way back to camp to clean and  treat his bite wound. Once his arm was wrapped up neatly, they all relaxed around the fire again. It was then that Marcus chuckled softly and looked at Lewis.

“Man, that was so random. Wouldn’t it be funny if you became a werewolf now,” He said, chuckling louder.

“Man wouldn’t that be something. Like those cheesy B movies we used to watch as kids,” Lewis said, laughing. “But don’t worry. I promise that if I do turn, I won’t harm you man. You’re my best friend in the whole world, and I would never do anything to harm you.”

“Thanks man, I appreciate that. So what do you think that wolf was doing here anyway?”

“I don’t know, Probably a break off from the pack. I suspect it saw us earlier but didn’t want to get close to the fire, so just waited. Glad you guys were her though.”

“Same dude,”  Marcus said, patting Lewis on the shoulder.

THey all then sat back and relaxed, continuing to watch the night as the stars shone over them. But Lewis soon started to feel weird. He felt warm, like his blood was boiling. He began to sweat heavily and reached for enough beer. Soon, the moon began to crest over the horizon, its perfect roundness shining down on the lake. Lewis stared at it, almost as if he was in a trance, as the foam from the beer ran down his hand. One of the guys took notice and put his hand on him.

“Hey, you ok dude,” He asked, concerned.

“It's just…so beautiful,” He said, continuing to stare. As he stared, his pupils began to dilate, getting bigger and bigger, until near his whole eye was white. He then jered suddenly, his whole body tensing as like he was in pain, making him crush the can in his hand and spill the contents over it. He panted heavily as his whole body began to pulse and jerk.

“Uh dude…are you o..” Another guy started to say, before Lewis jerked back in pain. He screamed loudly as his body began to shift. Muscles growing thicker and more massive in his chest and arms. THe group then screamed in panic and began to make for the RV. However in the panic, Marcus got his foot stuck in one of the chairs and fell to the ground. He rolled over and struggled with the chair. But in his panic he couldn’t seem to get it.

Huske continued to change as Marcus watched. He bent over again, panning and groaning in pain as cracking sounds could be heard all over his body. The bones breaking and resetting again and again as he grew taller and larger, soon topping out at a massive 6’ 9”. He creamed in pain as his muzzle grew out farther, teeth growing out longer and sharper than before. The ground was begging to puddle with his saliva as he panted, drooling it out. He groaned loudly and dug at the ground as thick, sharp claws grew out of his hands and feet. All the while, they cracked and shifted, becoming a mix of Bipedal and quadruped. Lastly fur began to grow out of him, getting thicker and shaggier, like a wild wolf. When all the changes had finished, Lewis sat there, panting heavily. He was gripping the ground as he panted heavily, his whole body shaking from the experience. He then threw himself off the ground and arched his back, putting his muzzle into the air as he let out a loud powerful howl.

Meanwhile, Marcus sat there, stunted and scared. Werewolves weren’t supposed to be real. They were just made by horror writers and Hollywood executives looking to make a quick buck. There was no way in the world that his friend was actually…a werewolf! He sat there for several seconds, staring at Lewis, before he gathered himself and finally got his leg out of the chair. This wasn’t good though, as it got the attention of Lewis. He turned to Marcus and growled loudly, lost in the Bloodlust that now ran through his mind. Marcus pounded on the door to the RV, desperate to be let in.

“GUYS! LET ME IN! LET ME IN,” He screamed into the door, but the rest of the group held it shut. ONe of them even peeked his head over the glass and shook his head no before disappearing behind it again. Marcus continued to pound on the door as Lewis slowly approached, growling and panting heavily, Saliva dripping from his muzzle. He then stopped in front of Marcus and panted heavily, as if waiting for something. Marcus stood there, his back against the door, as he shook in fear.

“Husk….I know you're in there…you promised you wouldn’t hurt me…and you always keep your promises,” He said, closing his eyes and turning his head away.

Lewis leaned in more and growled as he began to sniff. He Growled louder and stuck his nose deeper into Marcus’ hair and neck fur. Marcus froze in place, fearing that these moments would be his last. But surprisingly, Lewis pulled back and stood there. Marcus opened an eye before he turned his head back to directly look Lewis in the eyes.

“Mar…cus…” Lewis said slowly in a deep growling voice.

“Y-yeah, it’s me man,” Marcus said tentatively.

    “Mar..cus..my…friend…”

“Yes, yes it’s me. Are you in there man?”

Lewis stepped back more and put his clawed hands on his head as he closed his eyes.

“Marcus…my…best friend…I…won’t….hurt….you,” He said, holding his head harder, clearly trying to fight it. He started to growl as his words became clear and more coherent.

“Yeah! It’s me man! Come on Husk! Fight it! I know you can,” MArcus said as he began to cheer him on. Lewis Growled and Howled again and again as he struggled against his new instincts. He stumbled back and fell over one of the other chairs, hitting the ground hard. He rolled back and forth growling loudly all the while Marcus called to him, telling him to fight. Finally, Lewis let out one last howl and collapsed, his body going limp. Marcus, unsure of what was happening, slowly began to move closer.

“Husk? Husk? Tell me you’re ok,” He said as he picked up a stick nearby. He got within a foot and gave Lewis’s body a gentle poke. Instantly, Lewis shot up and let out a loud, deep gasp, surprising Marcus and making him fall onto his butt. Marcus scrambled back a few feet as both he and Huske were panting heavily. They both sat there for several minutes before Lewis looked over at Marcus, his eyes narrowing.

“Marcus? What…what happened,” He asked softly in his new deep voice. He then raised his hands and looked at himself and what he had become. He then looked back at Marcus and with concern in his voice asked, “Did I…hurt anyone…did I…hurt you?”

Macus got up on his feet and slowly walked over to Lewis, placing his hand on him gently.

“No, no, you got it under control. It’s all ok,” He said reassuringly.

Lewis looked over himself again and flexed his hands. He was quiet for a while as he thought hard about what just happened. He then looked at Marcus and wrapped his arms around him.

“Thank you. Thank you for being here to stop me,” He said as he hugged him tight. Marcus returned the hug as the others began to come out of the RV.

“Heh, Well guess we have to be careful with you around the full moon now don’t we,” Marcus said with a slight giggle. Husklee started to giggle in return. Soon the giggles turned into laughs as the others gathered around. They then spent the rest of the night testing and having fun with their new Werewolf friend. As the night grew to a close, they began to settle into their tents, as Marcus and Lewis curled up on sleeping bags outside. As they were drifting off to sleep, Marcus leaned over and began to pet Lewis gently. Lewis smiled and wagged his tail gently as the two drifted off to sleep, ready to have the best camping trip ever.
