It's been a while since I've done any Demordicai Diamonds character concept art and I wasn't originally planning on doing any this week but Rebecca decided that I'd draw her this week anyway. For character concept art, she's the first one that I've taken the time to give a background to.
Rebecca is a native of the island of Relma and lives alone in the forests outside of Aspen Village. She's very reclusive and doesn't deal with large amounts of people very well. She's very shy and it takes a lot of effort for her to look someone in the eyes when talking to them. She's very quirky and even more so when she thinks she's by herself.
Rebecca has no living relatives, the last of her family passed away from disease when she was in her late teens. Luckily, she was taught herbalism from her grandparents before they passed away and the death. She has a wide knowledge of various herbs and their applications and makes a meager living from selling what she gathers and cultivates.
She goes into town sometimes to sell her herbs or make house calls to deliver her remedies or aid in treating wounds but sometimes people come to her for remedies for themselves or their livestock. She sells herbal remedies for all sorts of applications, from aches and pains, food flavorings, pesticides, infection and disease, incense, and even birth control. She also has knowledge when it comes to poisons but that's not something that she sells easily since it goes against her beliefs.
Belief-wise, Rebecca is devout pacifist and has an appreciation for all life good or evil. She is by no means any sort of fighter and gets intimidated easily, especially by groups of people. She doesn't like killing of any sort but does recognize the need for it sometimes (though that still doesn't make it okay in her mind).
In more recent times, she is involved in a sweet little relationship with one of the town guards of Aspen Village, Tubbs, to be exact. They met when Tubbs was out in the woods one day and found her stuck half-way in a hollow tree trunk in an attempt to gather ingredients. It was love at first sight for the both of them after Rebecca pried out of the stump. They aren't very public with their relationship but they do visit each other from time to time.
Rebecca isn't going to be in the comic anytime soon but if I had to give an estimate, I'd say the second story arc would be a good guess at this point in time.
