William turned to the one thing that comforted him and began to sing “Lonely is the night, When you find yourself alone, your demons come to light, and your mind is not your own.  Lonely is the night, when there's no one left to call, you feel the time is right, Say the writings on the wall”
“That’s pretty” came a voice from the darkness.
William came closer to the bars, so close that the purple hue light up his face but he was not the only one.  Out of the shadows came a toothy grin and a set of magenta eyes.  Startled, William jumped back “You must be my personal night guard”
The figure nodded I am Major Cheshire HMENS Eclipse
“Only one of you? Didn’t they tell you that I’m a dangerous criminal?” William said rubbing the sleep from his eyes
“They did… and there are six of us here.  My sisters and I are more of the low-profile type…. And the last thing you’ll never see; if you wish to try your luck.”  Cheshire replied
“Well that is actually terrifying” William said nervously shaking.  William regained his composure before resuming the next verse.

i came up with the name Cheshire by the description.  it's not until the end of chapter one do you see anything more then eyes and a smile coming from the darkness.. it was a happy little accident when i realized that William came to this world through a mirror.  still looking for editors but I hope to have the story up on FIM:Fiction soon enough
