Back in ye olden times, before Palcomix had their forums rebooted, I remember talk on the old Palcomix forums about a possible RPG/visual novel game for School Days that was being created or planned. Not sure if it got anywhere or it was just speculations.
I immediately however decided to run hard and fast with the idea of biting at the heel to become the composer for the game, inspired by my sperg-tastic fixation on Final Fantasy soundtracks at the time, and created a lot, and I do mean a LOT of random drafts and ideas for themes and pieces.
A number of them were decent, but they weren't so grand in concept or thematic impact, and whatever ones I were proud of, their first incarnation was not my best work. I then somehow decided to convert the ones I wanted to save into piano arrangements and two themes stuck out the most then. Edna's Theme (which became Sweet Tender Vixen) and the main theme idea for School Days.
Honestly, I didn't need to touch these compositions at all they aged THAT well surprisingly. I think it was around this time my ear actually began to understand the purpose of harmony in a melodic structure while I was still tinkering with rhythm and counterpoint. And considering how powerful the piano is as a solo instrument, I REALLY took off with honing my harmonic ear.
I wish I could convert or save more of the old themes, but honestly, my older work showcased a SERIOUS change in my mental state overtime. Melodies became more stale and my soul wasn't getting into really putting the punch into the work.
So yeah . . . since Krezz passed away, I began digging around in my old files and finding glimpses of nostalgia of the old days where everything felt more magical and alive. Guess just a personal way of coping with a lot of the shit I've been going through these past couple of years.
