So being the gigantic Basil #1 fan that i am XD i feel obligated to give the character all the attention i can and i had an opportunity that comes very rarely. A custom 3D model of Basil was created and i was lucky enough to get 3D printed one but unfortunately it comes raw and unpainted and without a mount. the complete figure after being 3D printed had some rough edges that definitely required some sanding and attention but even then i actually like some of the texture it gives the model as a whole so i didn't over do it.
the hardest part came with realizing that i was going to have to paint this thing from top to bottom and i have had No experience in painting but thanks for friends that do, i went to hobby lobby and spent a good amount of money purchasing everything i needed from all the different paints, different brushes, sealants. canvases, etc. in order to make sure that my Basil was as accurate as i could make him, and i would NOT be settling for a half ass job. Thankfully because the paints are acrylic, you can use thinner or do over the areas and that is good because the model came as 1 complete model and not in pieces like other models do. which means that there were a lot of small nooks and areas i had to try to paint. especially around Basil's neck area. it was tough. but i gave it non stop attention and after i was satisfied, i coated the whole figure in sealant to prevent the paint from cracking, also got a wooden base i coated with old english to give it that wooden shine.
i am very proud with how Basil turned out!
