After watching the Sonic 2 movie, my only gripe is that there hasn't been a payoff for the blue quill yet. When Eggman established an official alliance with Knuckles, he declares his desire to destroy Sonic while holding the blue quill. However, right after that, it just disappears for the rest of the movie.
I love the fan theory that Eggman will use Sonic's quill to create Metal Sonic somewhere down the line. Hell, there was even a Matrix reference in one of the posters. "The choice is yours" "Red Quill or Blue Quill" Here's hoping we get Metal Knuckles too!
With no payoff for the blue quill, and the red quill not factoring into the movie, this idea popped into my head. Instead of equipping his machines with Sonic's quill, Eggman uses it to empower himself. However, an unforeseen side effect turns him into a hedgehog.
His clothes remain the same. Though, red and white sneakers appear on his feet. Naturally, he would still have his mustache. And he has black sclera and red irises to give him that Metal Sonic influence.
What should we call this transformation? Dr. Egghog?
