Bad Prickers.
Gabby throws in a monkey wrench in defense of Lynn. Gwendolyn is over it at this point, tired of being the center of attention.

she's right though: negative influences affect potion potency

Like anything that been held off too long, purity tends to spoil ratger quickly.
And in modern age it spoils even before most kids reach their puberty.

So why did she call out the count? And why did he react with the proverbial sweat-drop?

I would assume her argument would hold a similar effect to someone's blood when consume by a vampire.

He's the only other one present who has rejuvenated himself many times over. He just wasn't expecting to be pulled into the conversation.

Gwen's question to Count Lucas offers an interesting examination of the topic. I figure it's likely because he's a vampire, and as such, when he feeds, he consumes a lot of those negative elements from his subjects and donors. I figure it's the comparison to drinking a tea verses drinking a hard spirit or liquor. one has the possibility of being bitter but sweet and soothing, but the other, while intoxicating has other properties that can have adverse effects, including addiction and abuse.

That's about right. He's also the only other one present who has rejuvenated himself many times over.

Count Lucas is probably thinking of his harem of young boys that he mentioned earlier.

Life's essence is much harder to get that blood. Blood can be gotten from a simple cut or puncture, LF needs cooperation from both parties even if it's a rape.

That begs the question is the WAY the essence is acquired affect it's potency and energy. I would guess a very big yes which is why Gwyn took the time to make Chucky comfortable and showed him compassion and love instead of just taking it from him by force.

Yes, it does. Early one, Gwendolyn explains the normal way was to sneak into a pure boy's bedroom and give him a wet dream while he sleeps, then collect the essence. But it only gives one ejaculation's worth, and she has to sneak into a home to do it. The subject almost never knows it happened, so no need to worry about keeping them calm, conversing with them, etc. Her experiment with Chucky, successful as it was, required skill and tact.

You DID mention that she had to sneak into her subjects room to get the essence...so that makes her a SUCUBUS!? Wow! ;D

Gwen just gets more and more awesome every day! ;D

Also a question I keep meaning to ask : This little group of magic users, do they do anything besides just get together and talk about magic and stuff? Like to do they do anything for the community or is this more of a support group since they CAN'T really do anything without drawing attention to themselves and the others.

Heh heh, cool. I hadn't thought of her like that either. There is a scene several pages back where she illustrated herself 'bending' Chucky's jizz. This page here, bottom panel. https://inkbunny.net/s/2604735.

The group is definitely the latter. They live in an age of superstition and such still, so this little gathering is a place where they can all be together safely to do magical stuff and talk shop. Most of the folks present still lead regular lives, as opposed to Gwendolyn, who lives out in the woods, and Count Lucas, who lives in a remote castle constantly guarded by his minions and harem. The spat that just took place with Lynn has a lot to do with her normal life being her identity, as opposed to everyone else who's normal life is a cover.

"Incel Alert"- I didn't notice any character use "woke" as a slur as actual incels tend to do. LOL!

Sorry to sound naive, but what is the connection between woke and incel? I thought incel just referred to an angry guy who can't get laid. What does it have to do with 'woke' culture?
DavidArdilla

Just a joke/observation that rightwingers who use the term "woke" as a slur (ie: "get woke, go broke" and other cringe phrases) are overwhelmingly incels.

I had to look up what "incel" means and never even heard of "woke" as being a slur.

Nope. You lost me. Long-time reader but after seeing you use "Incel" you just outed yourself as another woke bigot. I'm out, and not just from reading this comic. You've lost a subscriber and from what I can tell most people have turned against the woke bullshit too.

Over a single word? Why are you so angry?
It's more than likely just inline with the character and how that particular character would act.

Different world, different social customs.

Applying our own modern sensibilities to a FICTIONAL setting is just asking for trouble.

Mature people know the difference in between fictional and reality, and don't let one affect the other.

And based on the artist's reaction of confusion between woke and incel to an another reader, there really was no connection to begin with. Please ask if that was intended before assuming anything.
