I wanted to try drawing a slightly more challenging character from my draw list. In this case, I chose Star the Husky from Universal's animated 'Balto' movie (1995). Of course, I hate this drawing in every way---I'm horrible at drawing quads, as Star here testifies.
HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "Yeah, you chose Star... Cool, I guess. Now draw Aloo on the beach, wearing a two-piece"
No. :3
Anyway, Star was from the first movie. Star began as a (somewhat benign) antagonist for our hero, Balto, but changed his tune once Balto had the opportunity to prove himself. :3 That's about all I have to say about the character: Star was the 'Ed' of his pack---a bit cross-wired, but not 'too' threatening.
Movies... there are three 'Balto' movies (that I'm aware of). The first film was good, but the franchise became progressively worse.
I'm of the opinion that 'Balto 2' (2002) was a bad movie, albeit, I find it watchable---there are certainly enough bits to like that make up for the rest of it. Even so, the movie would have been better had it been a stand-alone work; like, if it were its own thing with original characters rather than being part of the 'Balto' canon.
2004's 'Balto 3' isn't allowed in my house. I've seen the movie only once, and greatly despised it. This was years and years ago, so I don't recall much about the movie, though my impression of it remains ingrained in my memory.
And if I don't mention it now, someone else will: I'm fully aware that the 1995 'Balto' movie claimed to be based on real events, and fell greatly short on that affirmation. ...I'm also aware of said real events, albeit the Balto vs Togo debate isn't a criterion by which I judge the movie, and neither is the fact the real Balto wasn't part wolf. Reality doesn't matter when I'm alone on my recliner, with a bottle of wine, to watch a talking-dog animation. :p The truth, of course, is of utmost concern (generally), but not in such a scenario as described above (at least for me). :3
Last, for the twisted among you who want to see a low-res, sped-up, mirrored, resized cam-rip of the third movie, click here (link tested 03/24/2022): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzPGy9x8p-c
Pencil...
The featured pencil is a slim-barrel from Star Pencil Co (sporting a cute little brass knob in place of a traditional ferrule). :3
Now, this is another of those tricky, pre-WWII Japanese pencils, so... as I covered in the description of my Luna drawing, there's a somewhat high probability that this pencil was (also) made to emulate or rip-off another brand, such as Four Star Pencil Co.
I'm absolutely no expert here---I could be dead wrong in every way here (Japanese pencils are a different rabbit hole than those of American/German manufacture, which I'm more familiar with).
I've never seen Balto so have no opinion of it one way or another but it looked good from the trailer so maybe someday I'll indulge and give it a view. The other two I actually HAVE seen as I have a (twisted) love for 'bad' movies. And believe me I've seen some HOLYSHITWHATWERETHEYTHINKING!!! ones over time. :) Other than that the drawing is cute as always. :D
Question: Did that pencil COME with the little brass knob or was it put there when the original ferrule was lost / removed / destroyed.

The factual liberties I don't mind, much. The adding of wolf ancestry I mind a great deal. This was a solid story, it didn't need magical wolf essence to add to it. The latter two movies, especially the second, only wallowed in that original sin.
Now, draw Star in a two-piece.

No, they didn't. Seriously, there are plenty of movies with outcasts and nobody goes 'Maybe this kid should be half viking, to give other children a reason to dislike them'. You don't need to EXPLAIN Balto being in the out-group, that's how things WORK. Just show they hate him, we'll get it. We don't need lupine specialness.
