Is the priests wepon based off some irl counterpart? I looks to be some form of pig sticker or ornimental wepon.

It's actually just a broom stick with a sharpened crucifix. Father Carnero needed a weapon and there wasn't much to choose from.

There is a weapon called yari, a Japanese spear used by samurais similar to the priest's cross spear. Closest type of yari is Jumonji yari.
