"Kalem, one of the direct descendants of The Originals, who were the first Evocanis to wake up from stasis capsules in Canis Major a century or two in the past. As the rest of The Original descendants, Kalem has the duty to make sure Canis Major is always fully functional and self-sustained.
For many decades all was good. But in the eve of Year Zero, Canis Major was already showing signs of something not being right. Canis Major was in a dire situation. Slowly, it was losing sustainability. It was harder and harder to keep their supply productions balanced, their crops were dying faster than they could produce more, prime components losing efficiency to create more valuable resources. The Originals worked hard, thinking on ways to bring Canis Major back to balance. Kalem has always been a brilliant mind, not only being a prominent engineer, but also a general scientist, and even with some knowledge in medical science. At the advanced age of 28 -close to the Evocanis lifespan-, he had been planning Project D.E for a few years, which would lead the Evocanis race beyond the confinement of Canis Major, into the stars, in search of more resources and renewable sources of energy.
Kalem knew he wouldn't see this plan come to life, as Evocanis rarely made it past 30. But he made sure his son Hemi, and newer generations of The Originals would work to make his ideas a reality, for the sake of Canis Major and the Evocanis race. Old, and tired, he never lost his determination.
Sadly, not a few months later, Canis Major was invaded by the mechanical monsters, which lead to the Year Zero Event. If Canis Major was already in a dire situation, the invasion surely sealed their fate. There was no going back from it. Thankfully, the outcome of Year Zero is already known. The Retcans not only defeated the machines, saved the Evocanis, but also restored Canis Major, making it once again self-sustainable and stronger than ever.
Kalem was treated with Re-Gen, fixing the defective DNA strand that made Evocanis age at an accelerated rate after their 20's, and in some cases causing sudden death. He is now almost 40 years old, which almost doubles the original Evocanis lifespan. His body is young and strong once again, showing no signs of aging anymore. With the help of the Retcans, he would still work hard to make his vision a reality. More than a decade after Year Zero, Project D.E is a reality. The first field tests are performed. In the verge of the Evos and Retcans going on separate ways, Canis Major's future is now a bright one."
