It's friday and it feels... weird, to not have an update to the comic to post. Sooo... instead I'mma be showing off the world map I've been working on for a few months now~
The planet Terrena is the fourth planet in distance to their Sun, and the first "real" planet as the first three consists of two dwarf planets and one barely the size of our Mars.
Terrena was named after the Goddess of Creation Terra, who is a center figure in many religions spanning from the Northlands to the Southlands. Around the planet circles two moons, named Ozoris and Ozis after Terra's brother and sister. However, depending on your location on the planet, you might only see one of them at a time, unless you live around the equator (WHICH I FORGOT TO ADD FUCKKKKKK (basically the equator runs through the center of the jungle belt, roughtly))
The landmasses of Terrena consists of two supercontinents, a massive north pole, and a rather small south pole. The two continents are called Agios and Irone, after Terra's two sons; Agios the God of Silver and Fertility of the Land, and Irone the God of Steel and Craftmanship.
And this is Agios.
To give a sense of the scale, Agios' land area is 62 320 000 km², which is roughly about the size of our Eurasian and Australian continents combined. Irone is slightly smaller at 59 650 000 km². Both continents' many islands are included.
They are Big Bois.
Agios borders to the north pole and, depending on how you count, houses a grand total of 10 regions.
The regions are as follows:
The Northlands: the largest of the regions. It is a harsh land with long, cold winters and unforgiving terrain, but also warm and beautiful summers, and many of the different nations within it are generally friendly and hospitable, even towards sorcerers and magic users. However, while they are quick with a friendly smile and a welcoming seat at their table, they are just as quick and unconditional with their weapons. With the independent regions the Fire Islands and Isle of Ice being considered a part of the Northlands.
The Eastlands, where Stoneheart takes place. It largely consists of a massive desert land, considered inhabitable by many kinfolk. Which means only the most stubborn of assholes thrives there. Apart from in the southern areas where a lush, tropical land reign. Like with the Fire Islands and Isle of Fire, the Eastern Jungles are considered a part of the Eastlands even if the region is essentially independent. The majority of the Eastern Jungles are unexplored mysteries, even to its own natives.
The Southlands lay in the fertile paradise to the south. It is a region even more torn by wars and restlessness than the Eastlands, with the exception of the Sun Islands and the Isle of Peace. The Isle of Peace are "owned" both by the East and South, serving as a sort of neutral middle ground where many conflicts have been resolved. Both by words, and by swords.
The Westlands holds the Western Jungles, a region even less explored than its mysterious eastern counterpart due to its many dangers. Both political and natural ones, as well as the kind many thought were mere myths and scare campfire stories. Belonging to the Westlands lies a large island to the northwest known as the Wildlands. It is said to house a prison colony full of the worst criminals the world has to offer.
Map 1 is a (very very) rough topographical map with different colors showcasing the general habitat/terrain of Agios. While there ofcourse are circumstantial exceptions (such as oasis'es in the deserts and dead spots in the forests), this is what the continent look like in general.
Map 2 is a map of the regional borders. Again, marked with different colors to emphasize.
Map 3 is a closer look at the Eastlands, which will be relevant to Stoneheart, and its nations, kingdoms and territories (as well as the names of significant mountains, valleys and landmarks etc). As you might notice, they are surprisingly few and large, and that is because the eastern deserts of Agios are a shithole wasteland nobody actually wants to live in lmao. , because actually only a few spots in each nation are considered inhabited and "fruitful", but they still wanna own more land for the sake of it/as a display of power/nobody else wants it or has claimed it yet. It's basically like when a snotty kid has annexed an entire sandbox to himself and won't let anyone play in it too, while he only plays in a small corner of it lol.
Can't wait to take y'all on a roadtrip through it, remember to keep all hands, feet and tails inside the short bus, and don't lick the scenery~
*edited to add: the area to the south of the Rhadija/Trinity and Riverlands are unnamed because they are unrelevant to Stoneheart, but I'll hopefully update that at some point as it would be fun to have a "complete" Eastlands map to accompany the comic~
aaanyhow, sorry for the rambling. It's hard to try to make sense when your language base consists of a mixed bag of two different languages. Finding the right word or phrasing is like sticking your hand into a bowl of mixed skittles and m&m's and see what you get.
But I hope any readers out there found this interesting! And hopefully it'll help to give y'all a bit more of a sense of orientation when reading the comic~ <3
