During his snooping around the forest for various quest items Dakka stumbled a couple of times upon this ancient structure. Of course, he didn't go inside before as he wasn't the right level for it. Now though, after finishing all those quests and despite the trouble they gave him, he managed to get some experience. It made him confident he could take a go at the dungeon, or at least what was left of it.
The dungeon being in a low level zone meant that it was probably cleared already by some other pawdventurer. It didn't bother the pup too much, perhaps some loot was still left behind, and not to mention that it was common for monsters to return. So with caution and excitement the first step was made.
