Bits&Bobs: Torvald the Greywolf
We've met Kyaw's mother and cousins already. In "The Princess & The Pirate" we have learned that both Kyaw's Mother and Aunt jointly run a New Age trinket shop that also provides psychic services, such as communing with the dead and fortune telling. Yet we've never actually seen what this Aunt looks like, and she doesn't even make an appearance in the story.

The idea that Kyaw's mother and Aunt live and run the shop together was an idea in the works as early as when I conceived of Kyaw's three female cousins, but I wasn't quite sure on what to do with the character, neither in terms of appearance or personality. Since then a rough backstory has been written for the two sisters and the unconventional family they have tried to raise together. Much of that will remain secret for the time being, but may one day be revealed in a story.

Originally I had given Kyaw's mother the name "Ms. Brisby Bits", a name borrowed from the mouse from The Secret of NIMH. I had conceived her as an older maternal figure almost fairy tale like. After working on her backstory, in particular deciding that she was the younger of two sisters, her age no longer made a lot of sense. Especially since she is said to be an "ex-hippie" and the hippie movement would have not ended all that long ago in 1980 when Kyaw was born. I have no decided to name her "Tabitha Bits" and have aged her down quite a bit. She is now a charming young mother of 20 something years old who dotes on her only child, Kyaw Bits. Her fur pattern has been changed slightly. Now only her muzzle has dark fur instead of her muzzle and chin. I think it looks very attractive. She now gives off a Mother Mary vibe I like.

Going along with the convention of pairing names (Naw&Kyaw, Flipsy&Skipsy), Tabitha's older sister's name is Agatha Bits. As can be gleaned from her design, her hippy roots still run deep. However she also would be into various forms of neo-paganism. Being the older sister, one thing that should be fairly obvious from this picture, is that she dotes on her younger sister and sees it as her duty to protect her. Being slightly older she is likely in her 30s here. She is the one who made the initial push to purchase the shop and use it as a business so that her and her sister could live independently without any men in their lives (or family for that matter). Thus they live independently in a fashion of their own making. Agatha's youngest daughter is Naw, a girl who despite being 6 years old, has not outgrown bottles or diapers. She is drawn a little smaller than she should really be here. In actuality she should be close to the same size as Kyaw. They were born at almost the same time, a joint pregnancy which brought the two sisters closer together.

Agatha and Tabitha live an unconventional life, supporting each other, with no husbands, raising their children together as one big happy pagan family. In the Bits household, nudity is considered acceptable, magic and honing one's psychic abilities are considered the family trade, and all gods and goddesses from all religious traditions are held to exist simultaneously.
