Rey in the Star Wars film seem to be a total Mary Sue, right down to the 'author insert' qualification. Luke's journey was far more to the old 'missing prince' trope. And Our Host has also taken this opportunity to show off his literacy of actual historic Euroland martial arts, which I greatly approve of.

Well let me just state off the bat that I Do like the Harry Potter movies. The first one was the best, actually. And while, agreed, he wasn't a Gary Stu he was still "chosen" by the wizard school, sought out by Hagrid, AND born with supernatural powers. So right there it's a little, meh, for me. I do like the fact that he's not good at everything right away and has to work his way up. That was great, in fact it's probably the most interesting the story gets. ^^
However, If Harry had took it upon himself to do some research about the mark on his forehead from the library, or whatever, he could've found and sought out the Wizard school by himself. I think those are the more interesting stories.

Yeah I'm doing good now. Took three weeks to recover which is pretty standard. God that was such a painful three weeks though. Next year I'm going in with a proper gambeson and tabard though. And I should also add that if this story is linked to the show's continuity, then by this time Cubbi has already earned generous stripes in actually dealing with real life dangers and adventures. But now he's in an actual SCHOOL for Gummi fighting, and that's a whole new world.
