In the future, both Sonic and Amy got to live their lives. Sonic was allowed to continue his life of speed and adventure. And Amy accompanies him as an adventuring couple.
When designing Sonic and Amy as an adventure couple, their Modern attires were updated. Sonic wears a neckerchief and boots. And Amy wears a jacket over her dress and at least one earring. And they seem to be carrying an extra pair of rings now...
I'm reminded of the Archie comic, actual time had passed in that comic's continuity so we got to see the characters grow up (not limited to the 25/30 years later story, I mean the actual "present.") It's nice to see what it would look like if something like that happened in IDW continuity.
