Walking down the sidewalk in town on a warm morning, the large muscular bat Radar kept a lookout for his raccoon friend and bandmate Bandit, having been told to meet somewhere in the nearby plaza but having not been given a specific place to meet. Dressed in his red muscle shirt and denim shorts, Radar soon enough arrived at the plaza, his blood-red eyes looking all around the various shops and stores for where Bandit might be, until he spotted something that made him roll his eyes - There was a Furbucks Coffee at the far end of the plaza, and sure enough, out back, the blue-haired raccoon was taking a slow drag on his joint while sipping his drink. Softly, Radar muttered "Where else would you be..." to himself before heading over to the cafe.
The faint scent of pot in the air all but confirmed it was indeed the raccoon he was supposed to meet, and once he arrived the bat called out "Hey, you could have said where you were!"
Bandit just looked up with his sea-green eyes and gave a wave with that calm and relaxed smile on his muzzle, chuckling a bit as he replied in a mellow voice. "You seemed to find me just fine without it; what's the problem exactly?" Laughing just a little as he took another slow drag to finish his joint before putting it out and throwing the butt away, exhaling a nice marijuana-scented puff of smoke and even blowing a smoke ring.
Unimpressed, Radar rolled his eyes again, approaching the smaller raccoon. "Come on, you said you needed me for something? What's so important?"
The raccoon gently stood up, his lean and lithe figure rising to his height of six-foot-five, still four inches shorter than the bat but by no means small himself. He took a second to straighten the tye-dye shirt he had on, smiling. "Nah, I was just bored and wanted some company, and the others are all busy."
The bat blinked a little incredulously. "So was I!"
Bandit laughed. "I know, that's why you need to relax. Come inside, let's get you a coffee."
Before Radar could protest, Bandit went ahead on inside, leaving the bat standing for a second before shaking his head with a sigh and following the raccoon in.
Inside, there weren't too many other patrons, just a blue wolf at one table and a pink leopard at another, and Bandit gave a friendly nod to them both before making his way to the counter. He took a quick glance at the menu board and nodded softly, turning to Radar. "I'm good, you know what you want?"
Radar looked up to the menu board and softly spoke out loud "How much is a small-" cutting off as he saw what was printed; his brow raised a bit in confusion as he tried to make out what any of the words meant. Affogato? Misto? Macchiato? He felt like he was losing his mind. "How do you all order this stuff? Where's the coffee? What is any of this?"
The raccoon couldn't help but laugh, turning to the young vixen working as a barista. "Don't mind him, Beth, he's new here~" before turning back to Radar. "Here, you tell me what you want; I'll tell you how to order it."
The bat was squinting a bit, attempting to piece together anything, with no success. "I don't even... What is with you people?" he exclaimed, which made Bandit just chuckle a bit again, as Radar sighed. "...I just want something easy and strong, really."
Bandit nodded. "Ask her for a double-shot espresso with a pump of vanilla – Give it a little sweetness. Unless..." Bandit chuckled, turning back to the barista. "Dear, you wouldn't happen to have any mango pumps, would you?"
Radar's eyes went wide as he heard the word mango, immediately looking down to the raccoon and the barista. Upon spotting the vixen, Radar couldn't help but grin a bit, speaking in a voice that attempted to be smooth but came off incredibly awkward. "Well, hey there~"
Beth just rolled her eyes and shot back a flat "No." and Bandit shook his head softly, adding "Lesbian, and dating" with a chuckle, as Radar's confidence visibly deflated.
The barista turned back to Bandit with her smile returning. "Actually, we did just get restocked on mango this morning; I can-"
The bat leaned over, his eyes wide as he stared right at the two like a dog expecting a treat. "YEESSS"
Beth laughed a bit at this, nodding. "Alright then, what can I get you?"
Bandit smiled. "I'll have a double ristretto, venti, half-soy, nonfat, decaf, organic chocolate brownie, iced vanilla double-shot, gingerbread frappuccino, extra hot, with foam, whipped cream, upside down double blended, please." watching as Beth typed in his order before he even finished saying it. He was a regular here after all.
Radar just stared dumbfounded at the raccoon's order, muttering "...fuckin' hipster..." before taking a breath and letting out a sigh. "I'll have a... Double expresso-"
"Espresso" Bandit helpfully corrected.
"Esss-presso, excuse me." Radar repeated in an exaggerated, mocking tone. "With extra mango."
The barista nodded and typed in the order, responding "And what's the name for your drink?"
Radar looked at her, tilting his head softly. "...coffee?"
Beth went to respond, but Bandit winked at her while quickly saying "That's perfect, call it that~" as she nodded and chuckled a bit as well.
Bandit took out his card and paid for the two drinks, looking over his shoulder to Radar to quietly say "And this is why they like me here" as he pulled out a fresh Fifty bill, handing it to Beth. "This is for you from both of us; get Idris something nice. Stay awesome~"
Beth's eyes widened at the tip she was given, almost hesitating before she nodded softly and took the bill, folding it into her pocket. "T-Thank you, Bandit; this means so much to us..."
The raccoon chuckled softly and nodded. "I figured it'd be a little more for you since you had to put up with him, heheh, but yeah, you two deserve the best." He smiled, stepping back to Radar and nodding a bit as he added "Show me pictures of what you get her next time I'm back!"
Despite the two having ordered radically different levels of complexity to their drinks, the raccoon's was the first one out; they likely had started preparing it for him before he even ordered. Bandit took it with a smile, whispering something quickly to Beth, who nodded and grabbed a large cup before ducking to the back.
About a minute or so later, Beth returned, holding a mid-size cup and calling out in a giggly voice. "Double espresso and two mango pumps for... Coffee?~"
Bandit laughed out loud at this as Radar looked on, groaning softly and muttering "...smartasses" to them both while taking his drink, rolling his eyes at the word "Caffy" written on it, slowly sampling it with a sip. His sour expression quickly dissipated once he got a taste of mango, though, and after a second sip, the bat was smiling gently again. "Hey, that's pretty good!"
Bandit just smiled. "I think we can top it~" Beth nodded and held out the large cup she was holding, full to the brim with pure mango pumps.
Radar's eyes went wide as he gently took the huge cup, sniffing it for a second while twitching just a little in his large form, looking like a cat sniffing out catnip, before he quite suddenly downed the entire thing in one fast blink-and-you'd-miss-it gulp, somehow managing not to swallow the cup itself! Beth and Bandit both laughed at this, as Radar panted very softly, his eyes still wide, until he gave his head a little shake and just looked at the two. "...what?"
The two of them soon said their goodbyes and left, heading back out to the sidewalk together, sipping their drinks as they walked. Mango seemed to placate the bat's temper a little, speaking in a much more friendly manner. "Y'know, that wasn't so bad!"
Bandit chuckled a bit. "Like you'd argue with a cup of straight mango syrup."
The bat laughed softly, reaching over to ruffle the raccoon's hair making him whine softly in protest. "Oh please, you all are weird, but if it tastes good, then I'll order a frappu-cappu-slappuccino any day."
"Just watch – That's how they get you..." The raccoon warned while chuckling. "Can't get it anywhere else, so they'll charge you whatever the hell they want and you can't do anything about it."
He reached into his pocket and grabbed another joint, but after looking at it for a few seconds, simply put it back, speaking quietly out loud to himself "Nah, I'm good for now actually..."
Radar finished his drink and let out a soft burp as he tossed his cup in the trash, musing. "Their mango is pretty good... Shame they didn't have kiwi though..."
To which Bandit simply laughed out loud, immediately catching Radar's attention. "What?"
The raccoon laughed a bit more. "Who said they didn't~?"
Radar's eyes slowly went wide, staring right into Bandit's, his body twitching softly again, before he suddenly dashed back up the road at full sprint, leaving the raccoon laughing and shaking his head as he called out "Go get 'em, Tiger!" before heading back down the sidewalk once again. This had definitely been a fun morning; he'd have to do it again sometime.
