Some of them are really racists against Americans. And they have a broken super inflated economy. Densely packed and over crowded cities. And don't get me started on their Government.

Japan has the highest suicide rate out of all the 1st World countries. They've earned their super-inflated economy by building a culture which has a single word for 'death by overwork', and the shame of failure is so great that to avoid it people will spend weeks on end at their jobs, sleeping in four (or less) hour shifts without ever going home to see their families. The Government imposed a law which cuts the lights off in workplaces after a certain hour to force workers to go home and rest, but the companies still had the same deadlines so people just stay and work in the dark. Capcom has been getting a lot of shit for this sort of thing lately and people are actually boycotting their games because of the terrible conditions their developers have to work in.
Also, the samurai culture we're all infatuated with is entirely, 100% fictional. Around the turn of the 20th Century, Japan reinvented it's own history so they would stand out and retain some dignity in a world which was constantly becoming smaller and viewed them as backwards hillbillies. The whole idea of honor being the fundamental core of their world view didn't even exist until the early 1900s, long after the samurai had fallen from relevance. It's still cool though xD
