"Alright, remember your directions when piloting: Pitch, which angles the ship up and down, Yaw, which allows the ship to move left and right, and Roll, which rotates the ship on it's center axis," Terry said, purring to Nina as she motions to the foot pedals and directional stick she's been using for a while. "The foot pedal controls your yaw, like so," he continues, letting her test it as the ship moves first to the left, then to the right.
"Oh wow, that's so cool~!" Nina says, the young tween squirming in delight. She turns to her father, eyes wide, but he simply points out ahead. "Focus Nina. Keep your eyes on what's before you," he says, and Nina quickly turns back to the front.
"Good. Roll the ship around, play with the directions. Go ahead and experiment, and don't worry. If you get confused, I'm here for you," he says, patting her head gently. He watches as Nina begins to maneuver the ship around, shifting it up and down, side to side, using the joystick to roll the shipand get a feel of the controls. She would wag her tail in delight, finding it to be quite fun and very exciting. her father would continue to teach her throughout, informing her of the many screens on her dashboard, to give her a better semblance on her direction, her speed, and so forth.
Thankfully, because of the artificial gravity inside her ship, a 300i Nina cristened as Carrie, both herself, her father, and her younger sister Amber, wouldn't roll around from Nina's experimenting, which was doubly convenient as, other than the pilor's seat, there weren't any other chairs for the rest of the Sweetsmirks to sit on. Instead, Terry would remain behind her chair, teaching her the basics of space flight, while Amber, ever the cheerleader of the family, would encourage her sister as they flew.
As they did, a larger ship would idly fly behind the some distance back. A large Carrack flew in silence, her crew busy handling the daily tasks while her captain was off training the young cub. Inside, two white female kitten twins named Jess and Jenn pilot the Carrack, keeping the larger ship on pace with the smaller spacecraft. They keep comms up with Carrie, Jess monitoring it and the wider space around them, while keeping Terry updated through their comms. Deeper inside, Ren, a racoon cub, goes around the ship's habitation quarters doing the cleaning. As the ship was still in top condition and the team as a whole have yet to enter any real dangerous situations, and because she already finished her main duty of checking the ship's maintenance, she had free time to go about and keep the place tidy. After all, it was her turn on cleaning duty, and hey, it was a great excuse as any to wear a French maid uniform that all the cubs had, just because it was fun. Finally, Jodi, the only other male on the ship and a beautiful, feminine skunk, was in another room on the habitation floor, this time taking care of a large, feral, yellow bird named Yuchi. Amber's pet and the zebra's main form of travel, the large bird was loyal to the Sweetsmirks and the crew, and while kind of useless in space, Yuchi would often act as a security force for the cubs, as well as helped Jodi and Amber about when transporting goods around the ship or cargo bay. It was Ren's job to check on the cargo, assist Amber in the medical bay, and now, babysit Yuchi, a job he loved the most, and that kept him on his toes at all times.
Togeher, the Sweetsmirk crew would float in space, enjoying a rather peaceful day in space. So far, Nina was showing tons of improvement in her flying, a glimpse of the soon to be ace pilot that the stars have ever seen. But right now, Nina was tasked to fly through some meteors, and as the calico kitten tensed up and readied her ship, everyone would watch with anticipation, wishing her the best of luck.
, this story features a different universe, one where Nina is a teenager, Amber at one point lost her voice due to trauma, and the Sweetsmirks ran a cargo company in space. I won't go into further details, but needless to say this pic is part of a larger story, filled with drama, action, adventure, and so much more. Also, while this is a short snippet of what this space adventure is, I might return to this side again, maybe with the rest of the crew, or with scenes from the story.
