I was perusing pencil listings on eBay when I came across a lot that had a mis-stamped pencil in (ie, a pencil that wasn't printed correctly).
I DM'd the seller to tell them that such pencils sometimes carry additional value, and that it might be worth their while to offer the pencil as a separate listing.
The seller had many thousands of pencils, and told me they had been "weeding out" the misprints. I suggested offering the misprints to the pencil community---collectors of these exist (it's true!).
The seller sent me an image of some of the misprints they'd found. I liked them (one in particular), and doubled down on my assertion they could be sold.
Well, cutting to the chase, the seller listed some and ...gave me the *pencil I expressed interest in (for the cost of shipping, which was more than fair).
*everyone will eventually get to see the pencil---just be patient
As a thank-you, I offered to draw the seller any cartoon character they liked,
"Ooh! Hmm, one of my childhood favorites was Rainbow Brite. Could you do her or any of her characters? :)"
Now, I've since received the misprinted pencil, and I will be featuring it once I draw a character I think will go with it (I have one in mind already).
For Rainbow Brite (a character who has actually been on my draw list a while), I decided to feature this 'Magic' pencil from Hardtmuth.
The 'Magic' pencil is a jumbo-sized, colored pencil from Koh-I-noor. This particular 'Magic' pencil has a core that blends red, yellow and blue together in a checkerboard pattern. The pencil is stamped 'Czech', and this particular one was bought new (by me) from an art supply store in the early 2000's, meaning this pencil is from the Czech Republic (not Czechoslovakia).
To show what the pencil can do, I used it to sign and date this ACO of Rainbow Brite. :3
As for the Rainbow Brite cartoon, I didn't watch it as a kid---I recall seeing the 'Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer' movie in The Disney Channel 30+ years ago, but that's about it (insofar as my childhood memories are concerned). I don't have anything to say about Rainbow Brite. ^^
Your act of kindness and assistance is, unfortunately, the exception and not the rule. Not a lot of people would take the time and do what you did. Thumbs up all around. :)
Cool pencil. Adds some flair and dimension to your sig.

Well, I want the pencils to go to those who seek for them---keeps things away from the landfill, too. ^^ Moreover, I want to be fair to others, where possible. I know what it's like to misprize something, only to discover later (after I undersold or got rid of it) that it was of high value.
The 'Magic' is a fun pencil---I used a cheaper variant of it to color around Gene's canvas in that Hershey comic. ^_^

No, I found most of the Care Bears to be really cute, especially Bright Heart Raccoon. The show could get a little too saccharine when the bears were in the spotlight, but the villains were simply hilarious. And I kind of liked No Hearts creapy castle. The Star Trek homage? (too mild to be a real parody) was okay.
Although Star Trek could be real corny, I like almost all of Trek. Except for Discovery I haven't watched the newer series. Perhaps they're too modern for an old fart like me. 🤣 I still need to get my head fully unstuck from the 80's and 90's! LOL
