Innocentata Medicalos: One Person Decision
Jenny actually spent the next hour asleep in her chair. Everyone left her alone knowing the disease was doing this and it was better for her to sleep. Her parents just went to get something to eat not knowing what to do. Dr. Marcus stayed behind to keep an eye on her and asked for a sandwich from the cafeteria.
"All Rise, Court come to order." The bailiff said. "Judge Joans presiding.
Jenny barely woke at the announcement but couldn't find the strength to get up at all. "Get up Jenny." The bailiff tried to encourage.
"No its ok it looks like she can't get up."
"Yes, your honor." Jenny said. The testimony of the two kids took out all the strength out of her.
"Well I made my decision. There is no way I can force you to go through rejuvenation. Your decision was made as an adult and your judgment has not been in dispute as a matter of fact, I understand why you made the decision, but I?d like to offer you an alternative. I know you don't want die a 5-year-old of thirst according to the math or a 2-year-old off to much rejuvenation. How about trying the cure and if it doesn't work, we'll let you die a 7-year-old? And added incentive. We'll make you a Innocentata Medicalos."
The courtroom gasped. "What's that Sir?"
"It's higher than a Innocentata. Most respect. It's also the only one of its kind. I called the corrections board the school board everyone I could think of to help and they agreed with this. If you take one more rejuvenation, we'll make you an innocentata Medicalos. With more privileges."
"I object." That was the prosecutor again.
"Stop objecting and sit down. Well Jenny what do you think."
"Your honor I must decline." The court gasped louder. "I don't want to ever go through that machine ever again."
"Maybe we should let you think about it for another week."
"I've thought about it long enough your honor."
"Maybe we should have a counselor look you over."
"Here your honor." Jenny handed it to the bailiff. "It says I'm not suicidal. I just want to die without interference."
"Your right. Is there anything I can do to change your mind.''?
"No thanks. Thank you, your honor, for all you have done. I'll never forget it."
"Court adjourned." Mom and dad helped jenny to the hoovercar and she slept the hole way home. No one was happy about her decision but no one knew what to do.
