I believe it was papier-mache with a twisted wire framework. I can check when I got home, because unfortunately it suffered breakage when I moved it to the UK (it's sturdy enough, but my packing wasn't) and I haven't yet fixed it. Update: Fixed with superglue! And it was ApoxySculpt and acrylic.
