I don't think it's racism.. I think it's just poor sportsmanship and not as entertaining, so it's a marketing issue.
The audience came to see a fight. Not just one guy standing there and the other flailing around like he's fighting dead air, or standing around slack jaw and drooling.

Imagine being a pokemon from the Meditite family or a Gillade (psycic/fighting type) and not being allowed into the fighting arena cause of the psycic typing. Im sure psycics have there own arena, and those pokemon I mentioned could have some advantage, but its not the right type of fight for those pokemon. the mindscape battleground
