It's a Robotic Mole Mech with a built in front and back boulder cannon and spiked wheels 2 cling onto mountsinsides and rocky walls and Knuckles is forced 2 fight it above and below underground

Background/History

Robotnik created it 4 sole purpose to dig like burrow underground so that he can sneak his way inside the Ruined Temple in Machu Picchu from below which nobody will ever suspect him from entering from below but instead confronted THAT Retched Echidnia, Knuckles again and fought above and below underground.

However, this isn't the only Mech that he has in his disposal tho...

4 he has total of 12 Mechs at his disposal tho in this case 9 left at his disposal

I've been working on my own Sonic the Hedgehog 2020 Film Sequel which I call it Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Wrath Of Chaos which is based upon Sonic Adventure Directors Cut (DX) but with some twist that nobody won't as well as never see it coming but makes more sense as well.

Anyway, here is concept art of the 3rd Robotnik Boss Fight like Action Scene out of 12 which there are 12 total of Robotnik Boss Fight like Action Scene 2 make up for not including Amy, Big & Gamma in my script which I have good reason why.

Robotnik was planning in on digging from below the Ruined Temple of Machu Picchu that nobody would ever suspect 2 do something like this after hearing from his idiotic subordinate once Mr. Stone but now force 2 change name 2 Snively about overhearing from locals about rumors of seeing a gem of some sort somewhere in the Ruined Temple in Machu Picchu when he stumbles upon Knuckles along the way and thought that he had found the Third Chaos Emerald after seeing something gleaming coming from him which he confront him about it and fought which at the end it turns out 2 b nothing more then a piece like shard from the Master Emerald which he has no use 2 it what so ever.

And his creation was destroyed all for nothing as well which he was then force 2 summon a spare Mech tho this time in a form of a Robotic Hornet Bee and flew off towards his destination.

And the reason why I say Concept Art is because I'm a bit rusty and all which may or may not be perfect...

But what u expect since its been 26 years since I last draw something that is not Digimon related.

But hopefully u get an idea as 2 what I'm trying 2 go 4 & such even tho it's 2D like Side View sing I'm not good at drawing 3D of it and u will see why.

Robotnik was on his way towards his destination which was the ancient ruined temple in Machu Picchu that his idiotic subordinate had told him about what he had overheard from locals about seeing a gem of some sort somewhere hidden at the Ruined Temple in Machu Picchu but then encounter Knuckles whom he saw something gleaming coming from whatever it is that is in his hand which he thought that he had found THAT Third Chaos Emerald but at the end it turns out that it was actually a shard fragment of Master Emerald which he had no use for it what so ever which cost him of having his precious creation destroyed which he went and summoned a spare one in a form of a Robotic Hornet Bee Mech known as Egg Hornet and flew off towards his destination.
