Two months later, Sonic was cleaning around the house when Shadow walked in from shopping. As he walked into the kitchen, Sonic was washing the dishes.
"Hey Sonic, I'm back from the store." Shadow said as he started putting the groceries away.
"Oh good... So did you get everything we need for the baby?" Sonic asked as he finished cleaning the last dish.
"<nods> How are you feeling by the way?"
"I'm good actually, can't wait for the baby gets here. I'm dying to know if it's a boy or a girl."
"Yeah I can't wait either."
Sonic was about to drink some of his tea when suddenly he felt a shot of pain in his stomach. Almost like someone just punched him in the gut really hard. Clutching his stomach, he fell to his knees. Shadow looked behind him and saw that Sonic was on the floor crying.
"Sonic.... Sonic what's wrong?" Shadow shouted in a worried tone
"I-I'm not sure... C-call Eggman... Hurry." Sonic said still clutching his stomach.
Shadow called Eggman and told him what was happening. Immediately Eggman told him to hurry and bring Sonic to his base.
"Come on Sonic we gotta go." Shadow said as he helped the poor hedgehog to his feet.
"Shadow it hurts.... Please make it stop!" Sonic cried out clutching his stomach harder.
"I know I know. Come on Eggman said he will help. Chaos CONTROL."
Soon as Sonic and Shadow arrived at Eggman's base, he was already waiting on them.
"What's going on?" Eggman asked
"I don't know something's wrong with Sonic, he keeps clutching his stomach." Shadow said in a panicked tone.
"Eggman.... H-help me... please... it hurts so bad." Sonic moaned in pain.
"Shadow, pick him up and follow me to the lab. I think he's going into labor."
"What?! Are you serious?!" Shadow screamed
"There's no time for talking! We gotta hurry!"
Shadow gently picked up Sonic and followed Eggman to his lab. About two to three minutes later, they arrived in the hospital wing of the lab.
"Sonic I need you to breath. Find the rhythm to breath." Eggman said as he took Sonic away from Shadow and gently placed him on the hospital bed.
"Don't worry Sonic I'm here... I'm not going anywhere." Shadow said as he held his lovers hand.
As Sonic continued to breath, Eggman left and came back with a syringe in his hand. When Sonic saw what was in Eggys hand he nearly panicked.
"Wh-what is that?" Sonic asked
"Don't worry its painkillers. This will help take the pain away."
Sonic suddenly felt a prick on his arm. Once the liquid entered into his bloodstream, he could the pain slowly dying down. Shadow took Eggman to the side so he can talk to him.
"How is he?" Shadow asked concerned for his lover.
"He's fine, the painkillers calmed him down for now."
"What do you mean "for now"?"
"Sometimes it's rare for labor to last at least a good 3 to 4 hours. Maybe even sometimes 24-hours depending on the organism." Eggman explained
"TWENTY-FOUR HOURS..... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!? " Shadow screamed.
"Shhhh... calm down clam down.... Like I said it's only rare.
Shadow looked back at Sonic and saw that he was calming down from the painkillers Eggman gave. That gave Shadow a chance to calm down also.
"How do you feel?" Shadow asked as he entered the room.
"Alittle better.... Wish this baby would come out already."
"I know, just be patient the baby will come soon."
Four hours later, Sonic felt something moist on the bed. He looked under the covers and saw that the sheets were soaked. Suddenly felt pain in his stomach again, that immediately told him that it was time. Sonic tapped Shadow on the shoulder and said:
"Shadow go get Eggman now.... My water just broke. In other words, THE BABY'S COMING!!!"
Shadow ran and got Eggman from the other room, told him Sonic was goin into labor and they immediately went back to Sonics room.
"Alright Sonic... you're gonna have to push. Push as hard as you can." Eggman instructed.
Sonic began pushing with all his might, but fell back on the bed.
"Ahhh!!!"
"Okay, lets try again."
The blue hedgehog tried pushing one more time, then suddenly found himself getting extremely tired.
"Push Sonic! Push! You can do it!" Eggman shouted.
"NGGGHHHH..... I can't do it... too tired." Sonic said panting heavily.
"Yes you can, just a couple more pushes."
"I.... CAN'T!!!!" Sonic screamed as tears dropped from his eyes.
Seeing how stressed out and tired Sonic was becoming, Shadow decided to step in and try to help.
"Sonic you can do this, please I beg of you."
"Shadow I can't... I don't have... enough energy."
"Yes you can, I've seen you in action. No matter how big or strong your opponent is, you've always manage to find the energy to beat them. You have to push... without you the baby will not survive. Do you understand that?"
"Sh-Shadow...."
"Please Sonic.... Please.... Do it for our baby! I beg of you!"
Sonic looked at the black hedgehog and saw tears were forming in his eyes. That made him realize that he had to keep going. Not only for his and Shadows sake but for the baby sake as well. Sonic tried push again.
"Almost there Sonic.... I can see the head." Eggman said.
"NGGGHHH..... NGHAAAAAA!!!!!" Sonic screamed as he gave his last push.
After his last attempt, Sonic fell back on the bed trying to catch his breath. Suddenly the sound of a baby crying entered his ears. Sonic looked at Shadow, who was looking at Robotnik, who was holding the baby. Eggman cleaned up the newborn and wrapped it up in a blanket. Then he walked over to Sonic and handed the little bundle of joy to him.
"Congratulations.... its healthy baby girl." Eggman said with a smile
When Sonic uncovered the infant, he was truly amazed. In his arms was a little girl hedgehog with light blue fur, black stripes on her quills, arms and legs. Her quills stood up like Shadows and had a peach-colored muzzle with a little black nose. When she opened her eyes, she had beautiful light blue eyes.
"I can't wait believe it... She looks just like me." Shadow said smiling.
"Welcome to the world.... Imani." Sonic said as he kissed her on the forehead.
"She is really beautiful.... A little angle." Eggman said as he was about to leave the room.
"Thank you Eggman. Thanks for everything." Shadow said shaking Eggmans hand.
Sonic looked at the doctor and gave him a slight nod thanking him for helping. Ten minutes later, Shadow came back to the room and saw that the tired hedgehog was still holding Imani close to him.
"Hey, how are you feeling now?" Shadow asked as he sat next to the bed.
"Good... Exhausted.... But good."
"Yeah I can tell.... Oh here I brought the baby a bottle of warm milk."
Sonic took the bottle and began feeding Imani. About fifteen minutes after the baby ate, she soon fell asleep. Within moments Sonic and Shadow both fell asleep as well.
