Whenever I can, I try to match pencils to their subject. I think I found a great match here!
This is TV from the 1987 animated movie: 'The Brave Little Toaster' (TBLT). TV is special in that, seemingly, he's the only appliance who can/does talk to humans. :3
For those who aren't familiar with the movie, most of the characters were sentient appliances (including a lamp, a vacuum cleaner, and a toaster).
It seems like a Z movie, but... it's not---TBLT is among the best *non-Disney animated movies of the 20th century! ...Ok, exaggerating a little, but TBLT is truly good!
*Disney bought the rights to TBLT, but they didn't produce it ...the studio that produced TBLT (Hyperion Pictures) would help create Pixar. ;)
If you don't have time for a movie, try sampling this (abridged) song from (and I'm sure you'll make time for the movie soon after lol): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqT2uOa1-d0

TV was ...actually very easy to draw, at least the shell (ie, the object itself) was. A TV doesn't change shape and cannot be posed (at least, this one can't), so I had no reservations about making a screenshot and drawing what I saw. As for the 'person' on the screen ...He's in an original pose, but I had to draw him VERY tiny (and lightly)! Gene (for example) wouldn't be so bad at this scale, but this character has more detail, and has to fit inside that restrictive rectangle (the screen).
Some of the difficulty came from the fact I'd drawn the shell first---that was a bad idea, but in the end, this card looks no worse than the other trash in my gallery, so I guess it's ok. ^^
All right, so what about this 'Commercial' pencil?
This one is unsharpened and is the only one like it I have, hence I used different pencils to draw and delineate this card (respectively). Additionally, I don't know the maker of this pencil. As for its vintage, it's probably from the 1960's or 70's.
I saw that movie not too long ago, and while obviously a kids movie, it was pretty good. I don't think the tv could really talk to humans, it would try to communicate messages by cleverly selecting a tv program broadcasting what best fit the message.
