Oh yes, definitely you can only use one side of the paper when you use markers. In general I always recommend to use one side in any drawing. And yes, it is very pretty how colors pop with color markers, I recommend you to try them, or even to combine them with color pencils

I bought a box of Prismacolor with 72 colors, and then each time I consider I need another color, I buy them individually. But it is good to start with a box. Prismacolor is a very inexpensive brand for color markers, and it is really good. I tried before with Touch Five and I can't recommend that brand at all. Copics are very expensive, and I think the result comparing with Prismacolor are very similar.
