This piece will take a little explaining to unpack. It's based on a furry roleplaying game I'm part of, along with my daughter and a bunch of her friends. A whole branch of the story is pretty much just mine and operates almost as an independent concurrent roleplay. It's a little tricky to explain, but let's take a little bit at a time.
Firstly we have at the bottom left, Peter/Petroshka and Hogu. Peter/Petroshka is the fellow painting the easter eggs. At the moment he is rather absorbed in the task at hand, which is to paint a bunch of easter eggs for the farm/cult for easter sunday. Next to him is Hogu admiring his handy work. Peter and Hogu haven't been friends for too long at this point (maybe a few months) but they have become close. In the background from left to right we have Krampus the Warlock, the goat running with the stolen dress, whose suppose to be the cults spiritual leader but is far too crazy and senile to actually fulfill that role in any way except as a figure head of sorts, in the middle we have "Earl The Fat Earther", a retired magical reindeer who acts as the cults main pastor and the one who gets most of the things done and keeps everyone in line, especially Krampus, and to the right we have "Isabelle The Humanoid", who is a recent initiate to the farm along with Peter and Hogu (she actually arrived on the farm a few days before them). In the background we can make out a grain silo and a giant loop-de-loop that is part of a massive custom-made "hover park". Think like a skater-park but more like a rollercoaster and for hoverboards instead. It was created for just one parishioner of the cult who happens to come from another dimension ... can you guess who?
So let's start with the setting. For this continuity, Petroshka lives in a world of mostly humans (99% of the population according to the loremasters of the roleplay) and a small somewhat discriminated minority of anthropomorphic animal species (aka furries, or non-humanoid anthromorphs) which amount for as little as 1% of the population.
Some furries chose to adopt human disguises to fit into the population, while others simply live as themselves. The mainstory focuses on a family of half-syblings, the children of a literal goddess, and her various furry mates (I didn't come up with this, blame the loremasters, of which my daughter Yuki is one of three that came up with the basic setting). As a result each of the children looks completely different and has completely different magical abilities. One thing they all have in common though is they are all demi-immortal, which means that (1) they can never die of old age and never age past a certain point and (2) while their bodies can be killed their souls can not be forced to leave the mortal realm. One of them even said that their soul can not be forced out of their body, so perhaps in the case of their death they would become a living zombie. In any case, the children (and a few of their friends) hang out in a house together along with their "mother" (the goddess). They mostly just hang around the house acting silly drinking "dumbfuck juice" as they call it (I believe this is their name for 200 proof alcohol) all day. Occasionally their hijinks take them outside the house to a local underground furries only bar.
Anyway, that seems to be the size of it (I joined late and wasn't there for most of their adventures, so I only have a rough inkling of all the craziness that goes on, and I do mean craziness. Almost anything can and does seem to happen in the roleplay).
My contribution to the story was to invent a cult known as the "Fat Erf Movement" though they personally identify as "Thaalthuulimites" at the highest levels. Thaalthuulselah was their first prophet, who wrote a book (called the thaalthuulic bible to initiates or the Tzsot for the advanced members) claimed to be the third testament, detailing visitations from a forgotten goddess named Lunara who not only revealed to him various esoteric religious truths but also scientific truths that take the concepts of special and general relativity and take them even further, as well as the notions that the earth is also a kind of goddess incarnate and that the earth is both far more massive than scientists have calculated and whose geometric nature is far more complex than either NASA or flat earthers would have you believe, the short version being that the earth is actually a hyperbolic 5-dimensional manifold which may appears as various degrees of spheroidalness from a perfectly flat disc, to highly oblate spheroids, to a perfect sphere, at instances in ones reference frame, depending on things such as ones relative velocity as well as one's position from the equator. Like the flat earthers they think the south pole can not be reached, but for different reasons. They actually believe neither pole can be reached because the earth flattens out to a perfect disc of infinite oblateness and that distances to the poles stretch off to infinity as you approach the poles. This is similar to how you can never reach the speed of light as the energy required to get closer to it is increasingly asymptotically to infinity. They also believe the mass of the earth is not constant and is constantly gaining mass by absorbing energy from all the other stars in the universe which are themselves constantly losing mass. They hold that the product of the masses of all celestial bodies remains constant, that the earth accounts for the vast majority of this mass, and that stars themselves weigh unimaginably less than even a single atom. Furthermore, they believe that just like the earth mostly appears as a highly oblate spheroid in most reference frames and latitudes (special exceptions being at the poles and equator) due to its extreme mass, the stars actually are unimaginably light highly prolate spheroids (stretched out spheres instead of squashed spheres) which only appear spherical through telescopes on earth due to the earths unimaginably powerful gravitational lensing. Attempting to understand both their religious and scientific beliefs are held to be so difficult that initiates most spend many years of their life in deep study to reach even the lowest tiers above the initiate level. It is also held that anyone who invests this time in study and devotes themselves fully to the cult will eventually curry the favor of mother earth and gain special powers, in particular, the ability to control space, time, matter, and gravity. The highest ranking members assume "magical" or medieval titles such as "Wizard", "Warlock" and "Paladin". The structure of the church is highly hierarchal with a complex ranking system which also involves sub-ranks. At the top of the hierarchy is Krampus the Warlock, who founded the cult after discovering the lost writings of Thaalthuulselah and using it's arcane magic/scientific knowledge to further his own powers. He then took on recruits from other magical creatures, mainly magical reindeer, to form the governing body of his cult. He then began working to gain converts to funnel money into the cult offering an alternative form of salvation, especially to anthromorphs, which may not have the usual salvation open to them due to the fact that they are part animal (do animals go to heaven? What does that mean for creatures that arent fully human or animal). Humans and humanoids are allowed to join the church to gain access to this "second salvation" if they so chose.
The cult acts sort of like the "bad guys" of the story ... sort of. They are there to cause problems and be general nuances to the "housemates" (the demi-immortal syblings that are the main cast of the story). Much of what happens with "fat erfers" is actually a kind of spin off roleplay of the main story. The story is broken into different channel in the roleplay. There is a single channel devoted to everything that happens "on the farm", the cults special compound which is held in a secret location in south america somewhere near the equator (or perhaps directly on). Characters can travel between the different channels and in so doing travel to different "locations" in universe. Each of these channels runs concurrently with each other, so to know all the events that happen, one needs to read all the channels.
With that cleared up this will start to make a lot more sense. Basically, Peter was kidnapped by the housemates when working for the fat erfers at one of their prison/conversion camps as a janitor. From this he learns about the cult and the farm. He manages to escape the housemates, joins up with Hogu who was also staying at the house, and they both make their way to the farm sometime in August. Isabelle also got involved with the cult to supposedly straighten her life out as she had had a falling away from religion prior (though she had no idea what kind of "church" she was getting involved in).
Peter initially had a rather dastardly plan to get back at the housemates and procure magical powers for himself from the cult. But after a few months of staying, while not necessarily becoming a true believer, has come to enjoy this idyllic life. For once in his life he does not constantly have a metaphorical knife to his throat. All he has to do is be reasonably cooperative and helpful with the cults operations, and endure their attempts at indoctrination. He attends the regular services which are not often enough to be much of a problem for him. Besides farm work the rest of the time can be spent in leisure in the open fields and fresh air, hanging out with all the kooky characters the church attracts (did I mention that the church has a rather positive attitude to drug use as long as its directly from mother nature? They have literal reefer fields and use it both recreationally and as a way to reach states of religious enlightenment holding it to be a way to connect to the earth. Obviously this attracts people who wanna get high and have no interest in its "message" but the church is aware of this problem and tries to weed out posers).
Peter has gotten used to his life here by the time easter rolls around. Tasked with making this years supply of easter eggs, though initially surly and sollen as usual, he suddenly finds himself rather enjoying himself, in fact fancing himself as having some prior talent at it. In fact, briefly Peter's cynacism has left him and he cracks a smile, albeit perhaps a slightly creepy one. A possible lore explaination for this calming effect is that Peter was actually an easter bunny in a prior life. In this life however he has suffered nothing but misery and so has developed a cynical and pessimistic attitude to life. In this simple easter tradition however, he finds himself taken back to some happiness he feels he's never known.
Okay, so what's going on in the background? Whatever intelligence Krampus once possessed is largely mired by the fact that he has become completely senile and has gone completely insane from the teaching of Thaalthuulselah (or Thaaly for short as they like to call him). While he can still perform advanced spacetime magic, including the ability to travel between dimensions of spacetime, sometimes for brief instances in one spacetime while spending near eternities in another, he does so mostly through muscle memory. In fact his magic often involves spasmic movements or snapping his fingers to trigger it. As for his mind ... it has completely reverted to a childish and very petty state, often seeking little bits of vengence for petty grievances. Given his unbridled id (some examples including wanting to burn down things just because he likes burning things, but using religion to justify his actions, being damagingly perverted, abusing his ability to "snap" people to other locations in spacetime to maintain control through fear, attempting to get around protocols in the church that he had set up in the first place many decades ago and being annoyed he can't just change the rules on a dime, it has to go through an annual "convention" process which he hates, etc.) and his unbridled power, he can be quite a dangerous and unpredictable fellow. What ultimately keeps him in check however is his severe forgetfulness. Earl, and his cousin Red, often working in tandem, have learned to exploit this to get him to stop doing troublesome things or breaking the churches own rules (which of course would make parishioners lose faith in him). Earl, in particular, his greatest disciple and understudy, is ever vigilant to keep Krampus from destroying the reputation of the church, or literally destroying the whole place in a fire, mainly because he hopes to one day become the churches next grand warlock ie. cult leader. Earl often laments that Krampus will likely destroy the church compound or scare off all the parishioners before he even gets a chance to take over. This could also be a while seeing as there is no telling how long Krampus might live, though in reality Earl already more or less controls the operations of the church and usually can get Krampus to go along with his ideas anyway. In fact, a running gag is that Earl may actually understand the so called "Fat erf physics" better than Krampus himself. Krampus mostly understands it intuitively, the math can escape him at times (to be fair it can be quite complicated and counter-intuitive, just try and study real relativity).
Recently Krampus has taken to the habit of stealing Isabelle's clothing while she shower's just to force her to parade around almost naked in a towel because he's a horny ol'coger, of course. Such unseemly behavior is bound to make the church look bad, and so Earl of course has to chase him down to keep him from ruining things. Isabelle is chasing the old goat down too. Krampus, for his part, doesn't seem to be taking this too seriously and is just enjoying his childish fun.
The dialog in the background is as follows:
Earl: Give me that, you crazy coot!
Krampus: Yah Gotzta catch me first Earl, yah killjoy! hehehe
Isabelle: Give me back my dress you creepy little goat!
So that explains that. What about the hover park in the background? Well Krampus sometimes visits other dimensions to try and find converts to his cult. On one such journey he met Mr. Walker and his grandson? (or nephew maybe?) who likes hoverboards and has pet dragons. As a way to encourage them to stay in their dimension Krampus has commisioned the construction of a huge hover park for the youngin to play in. He can often be found there. He can be kinda dopey but well meaning. He also has trouble understanding even basic things because his dimension operates by completely different rules and this leads to a lot of confusion and weird happenings. Krampus doesn't seem to mind or care (he's used to different laws of physics in his travels) but undoubtably Earl isn't too thrilled with the strange disturbances in the fabric of reality it occassionally causes.
So yeah ... there is a lot of lore behind this single image. It's still a work in progress as well. Peter's storyline is still in ongoing development. But hopefully you found this little window into the insanity of Peter's lore entertaining at least.
