The "party flip" never happened. To this day the only KKK members to reach any real political power have done so as Democrats, who play both sides of every race war against each other while Republicans stand against all forms of racism...and are called racist for it.

Not only do I support voter ID, but I think raising the voting age and requiring people to pass a basic civics test should be a prerequisite for voting. So many people vote without even knowing what the government 's basic functions are.

I'll also get behind this civics requirement 100%. Raising the minimum age of voting I'm not as sure on.

I also flirt with advocating the idea that anyone whose income is entirely derived from government handouts and not gainful employment shouldn't be able to vote either. It'd be called "mean" and "disenfranchising" but hey, what isn't nowadays?

Well I mean the main functions are to promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty

That's why they call it "welfare", but it's not for the general welfare of all citizens for taxpayers' money to pay a salary for people who are able-bodied to work to sit around and get paid for nothing. And it does the opposite of securing our blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity, as those of us working and paying into the system are effectively slaves for those who aren't working but still eating.

"If a man will not work, neither should he eat."

And even for those legitimately unable to work, the government is entirely the wrong avenue to support them. It's wasteful and inefficient as well as immoral. Private charity does the necessary and then some.
