Enemy intelligence data analysis, codename: Samaritan
Range of size: 1 feet to 3 feet
Biology anchor type: organic
Organic processes: positive, partial
Natural weaponry: tendrils, weaponized common minerals
Threat level: Low
A low-level independant void predator most often found in areas where the fabric of reality has been significantly damaged or where large scale rifts to Nihilim can be found. Samaritans are technically non-hostile and closely related to the concept of ascension and are theorized to be products of failed ascension or to be the product of an unworthy entity being submerged in void fluid.
Samaritans seek out physical entities and attempt to help them along the process of transcending physical existence and the cycle of reincarnation. Unfortunately, their help come in the form of grabbing the victim, force feeding them stones or metals to destroy the digestive system, and then pour down supernaturally soothing substances as to eliminate pain while the victim is condemned to death by starvation.
Samaritans are supernaturally strong and despite their small size, are capable of tearing units out of unshielded powered armor below Frame classifications. They are however lacking in mobility, being limited by physical barriers and moving only through dragging themselves with their tendrils.
Samaritans should not be problematic so long as one keep their distance away from them and use ranged weapons. Be aware that Samaritans have organic processes and though they do not need sustenance and will not bleed out from injury, critical damage to the multiple hearts in their central frame will terminate their life processes and eject them from the physical world.
If an unit or any other entity is grabbed by a Samaritan, immediate medical assistance should be given, regardless of how well the victim may claim to be feeling ; a Samaritan's attack, though never immediately visibly lethal, actually almost always deliver lethal damage on the long-term to most forms of life. Only the hardiest species or mechanical life-forms might survive a Samaritan's attack without immediate assistance. Even then, units should still check for poisoning symptoms, colateral damage to other componements, and empty the body of the foreign substances inserted by the Samaritan.
Be aware that though independant and not formally linked to any known Outsider, Samaritans are single-minded in their desire to "help" and will not stop or fight other void predators. While other void predators have been known to occasionally pick on them (Samaritans will never fight back if this occur), trying to trigger in-fighting between Samaritans and other void predators is not an effective tactic ; Samaritans are slow, relatively fragile, and passive and too often ignored by fellow void predators, meaning that in-fighting will almost never occurs and that if it does, Samaritans will only provide a very brief distraction.
