Kid Kodiak, one of the stars of Greasy Pete's Animaltronic Band, was put into retirement when the famed pizza restaurant and arcade closed down. However, instead of getting a gold watch and a generous pension for his many years of service, he was dragged off to the desert to spend the rest of his days rusting alongside the other toys mankind had since outgrown... a shattered cathode-ray tube television here, and an empty can of saccharine soda there. The only remnant of his former glory? A metal sign that once hung in the restaurant, featuring an illustration of the mascot proudly holding a pizza box. Now it's stuck into the nearby dirt, its bright colors destined to fade along with the world's memories of his nightly performances. Once loud and boisterous, Kid Kodiak now stands silent, surveying the endless stretch of sand with his one unbroken eye as he dreams of better times.
This was based on a photograph of an abandoned Chuck E. Cheese animatronic puppet which I found on Reddit. It was haunting- you can see why these robots inspired a successful series of horror games- and yet pitiful all at once. The pose he was left frozen in suggested longing and regret, as if he was sadly contemplating his fate.
