What does it mean to be a man? What does it mean to be a father?
And perhaps the greater question...
What does it take to truly live up to both labels?
To the women and offspring in the Guardian's life, each would have their own definitions, their own reasons and pasts to explain their perceptions, but it's perhaps Seraphina, the orphan in the Guardian's clan, with one of the greatest explanations.
From the day of her adoption, Sera's father was a man who raised her as his own. Differences in race, differences in blood, these issues were never raised between them. Though her birth parents weren't part of her life, her adoptive father offered such love and protection, enriched her with wealth and wisdom alike, to the point that rarely did she reflect on her losses, and though he may have spoken sternly at times, never had a hand been raised against her.
Sera's father was a tender man to those he loved, and a demon to those who crossed him, much like a gorilla, maybe a bear, or perhaps a lion. A being who instilled caution in the masses, but to those dear to him, especially his offspring, he was no different than a gentle giant, who offered so much compassion none could help but return that same tenderness.
Yes, even to the one he adopted, he would rather take his final breath, than see harm come to a single hair on her head, no matter what it took to see to it even she, born from another, was safe, happy, and at peace in life.
And that is why the melody chosen and the flowers displayed fit so well with this entry, for though life comes with hardship, though not all is always perfect, with enough dedication you can and will find peace, with your present, your future, and yes, no matter how trying it may have been...
Even your past, can and will, be overcome. And to do so...
Sometimes... All it takes, is the love and support of one...
