The second in a series of "entries" in the future diary of the Guardian Master's adopted daughter, while the first upload featured a lighthearted, celtic ambiance to ring in the series, this time I went for something with deeper meaning to emphasize what the entry itself may not.
As fans know, while the Guardian Master is a fighter, a leader and rebel of sorts, he's truly a pacifist at heart, a weaver of words over a physical combatant whenever possible.
But as his fate steered him toward those in need, he was forced to raise his hand time and again, and no victory came without remembrance of the pain he'd inflict on others, even those deemed truly deserving.
For fans of Undertale, the theme of Asgore represents this ambiance all too well. A being who only wanted the best for his people, and was forced to trade life for life to see his ambitions bear fruit. Pushed to battle for the sake of those dearest, knowing the reality that to gain, some must lose.
Putting people in prisons, making a show out of punishing the sinful, in the TOTGM series fans saw first hand how strongly attacking others affected the Guardian Master, from uncontrollable nausea, to maddened states where his mind locked itself away in order to fight his way to the light of another day...
To the Guardian Master, though not all battles wounded him on the outside, there are marks in his heart the same as his skin. Though his life made him a king among kings, so too did it leave many cruel reminders that his battles stripped freedom, in some cases entire lifetimes from others.
Their rights, their fortunes, though horrible the people may have been he'd punish time and again, the Guardian Master knew there were others who cared for them, family, offspring, friends... Those who would also suffer because of those he'd punished, from tarnished reputations to tattered bonds...
Many would think nothing of convicting the guilty, yet there are those who know the feeling of power that comes with it, a terrifying power all too easily wielded unjustly. Taking away the life of someone else can be done in more ways than the final beat of a heart...
And to the Guardian Master, sentencing others came with the same grief as killing, for there are many times there are innocent who suffer from this. What a man it takes, to acknowledge all of this, and still have the heart, the courage to see justice through to the end...
And what a teacher, a father, such a man can be...
