Days passed and everything seemed back to normal. Sonic was holding Peaches on his lap and kissing her chest softly, above the neckline of her signature cherry dress. Peaches wrapped her arms around Sonic's neck and kissed his ears gently. Sonic purred softly and bit her neck. After doing so, Sonic froze for a second, his eyes wide open.
"Sonic?" He heard Peaches say. Sonic closed his eyes again and licked her where he had bit her. Her neck tasted wonderful, appetizing even. Sonic let out a sexy growl.
"Mmm~" He purred. "Your shampoo tastes amazing." Peaches giggled and replied, "Well, don't get too used to it." Sonic gave a chuckle and nuzzled her neck. Peaches gently laid her hands on his tummy, which he reacted to by tightly grabbing her wrists and placing them on his shoulders.
Sonic never let her touch his stomach, and if he caught her trying to, he would redirect the unwanted attention. Peaches gave Sonic a smile and pretended to pout. Sonic laughed as she did so, running his fingers through her soft hair.
"I love you." He said, pulling her close to him and laying his head on her chest. Peaches rubbed Sonic's ears and listened to him as he purred.
"Any more of that sweet gesture and you're gonna put me in a coma, Babe." Sonic teased. Peaches giggled.
"Maybe that's what you want me to do."
Peaches stopped to stretch her back. The moment she stopped, Sonic noticed that his stomach felt uneasy and that he was very hungry.
"Hey, Peaches?" Sonic said to get her attention. "D'ya mind going to Chuck's Diner? I'm hungry."
"Not at all." Peaches replied. "In fact, I'm a little hungry myself."
"All right! Let's go!" Sonic grabbed Peaches' hand and walked out the door.

Sonic held the door to the diner open for Peaches. She smiled and entered the diner. Sonic let the door close behind him as he followed Peaches to the booth they always sat in. In a matter of seconds, they were greeted by Sir Charles Hedgehog; Sonic's uncle.
"Well," he said, "if it isn't my favorite nephew and his sweet girl? So, the usual jack and a taco for the baby?" Sonic chuckled and replied, "Make mine a double." Uncle Chuck nodded and headed off to the kitchen.
"So, who's the baby here?" Peaches asked as Sonic snapped to attention from the sound of her voice. He playfully scratched his ear.
"Well, I thought the baby would be you, Baby."
Peaches rolled her eyes. Sonic reached across the table and held her hand, an obnoxious look in his emerald eyes. "Besides, why would I be the baby?" Peaches gave him an almost stern glare and rolled her eyes again when he gave another chuckle.
Sonic lifted his nose and sniffed the air. The sweet aroma of his favorite food hung low in the atmosphere and flooded Sonic's mind with images of hot dogs covered in heaps of hot, spicy chili. Sonic rubbed his belly, which growled with hunger and anticipation. Peaches giggled, but softly, so Sonic wouldn't notice that she'd heard his stomach. Sonic opened his eyes and noticed Peaches giving him and awkward, but familiar, look.
"What?" He asked.
"Nothing." Peaches replied. "You seem to be enjoying yourself."
"Yes, I am."
Sonic stretched and slightly slumped in his seat. Now, he was craving chili dogs with all his heart. His eyes darted to every corner of the diner. He didn't know what he was looking for; maybe something to ease his mind of the anxiety he was feeling. He sighed deeply and closed his eyes.
"God. . ." he whined, almost sorrowfully, "I'm soooo hungry." Peaches caressed his face. He opened his eyes to look into her diamond gray eyes.
"Relax, Sonic. You'll be fine."
Sonic smiled. She was right. Uncle Chuck wouldn't forget about them. In fact, he was carrying their order to them right now.
"Thanks, Unc!" Sonic exclaimed as the food was set before him. His uncle laughed and replied, "Enjoy you two." Sonic licked his lips hungrily and grabbed a chili dog. In almost a second, he already had half of the thing in his mouth. Peaches almost choked when she saw what he'd done.
"Sonic!" She exclaimed louder than she had meant to. Sonic looked up at her, licking the chili off his face.
"What?"
"Did you even chew that?!"
". . .Yes. . ."
Peaches sighed and rubbed her forehead.
"Please don't eat like that. It's inappropriate and disgusting."
Sonic obviously hadn't listened because he was busy shoving the other half of his chili dog down his throat. Peaches averted her gaze as he face flushed. Sonic gave a large belch when he was done. Peaches cringed. She reached up and covered her ears. This was one of those times where she wished she hadn't agreed to follow him to the diner.
"Sonic! Please!" She begged him. She felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to realize Sonic was leaning across the table. He leaned closer and kissed her.
"Okay." He said and sat back down, slowing down the pace with the next chili dog. Peaches smiled now as she watched Sonic eat. She took a chili dog and took a bite out of it. After eighteen chili dogs, Sonic laid back and relaxed. He closed his eyes in bliss and folded his arms behind his head. Peaches finished the rest of the chili dogs. Sonic opened one eye as he heard footsteps approach.
"How were your chili dogs?" Uncle Chuck asked.
"Same great taste." Sonic answered. "Maybe even better than last time!"
"Glad to know I'm improving." Uncle Chuck laughed. "You two have a great day!"
"Hey, Sonic." Peaches said. "I just realized; we've never had to pay your uncle."
Sonic smiled and wrapped an arm around her.
"Yeah. Perks of being the owner's nephew."
Free chili dogs.

Sonic softly groaned. He rolled onto his back and gazed up at the ceiling. His stomach had been growling for most of the night and it was starting to be quite annoying. He couldn't sleep through the noise and burning. He looked over at Peaches, who was sleeping beside him. Now, while he wouldn't allow her to touch his belly in any way, gently took her hand and pressed it against his stomach. Anything to get it to shut up. He almost screamed in frustration when that didn't work. Sonic couldn't stand his growling stomach anly longer.
He got up from the bed and went to the kitchen for a midnight snack. He opened the freezer and took out a tub of ice cream. Grabbing a spoon, he went into the main room and turned on the TV. Sonic had only meant to eat a little ice cream but eventually, one tub became two, then three, until there was no ice cream left in the house. Sonic turned off the TV, utterly confused. Why was he still hungry? Sonic felt like crying. He'd never get any sleep like this. He walked into the bathroom where he opened the medicine cabinet and took two sleeping pills (these were specifically prescribed to him to beat insomnia caused by PTSD). Sonic crawled in bed just as the clock struck midnight and closed his eyes.
