This cutie is a character that I’ve been wanting to design for quite a while, except he hasn’t been created before!
I made a few Duckula stories in the past and made reference to some children who belonged to him and my girlfriend OC for him but never got around to drawing them. There were four of them back then, but I’ve decided to just stick with one since they weren’t well thought out ^^;
Note: Matthias is a fan-name I came up with for the current Count Duckula x3
Name: Finnius Duckula (alias; Finnius Albesca)
Nickname/s: Young Master (by Igor), Finn, Finny (by his parents/grandparents)
DOB/POB: 13th August/Brașov, Transylvania
Breed: Mallard
Family: Matthias Duckula (father - alias; Matthias Albesca), Beatrice Duckula (mother - alias; Beatrice Albesca), Cora and Corina Albesca (grandparents)
Personality: Finnius is a timid, but sweet-mannered mallard who enjoys gardening and playing outdoors with the family pet, Fluffykins, his father’s tamed vampire bat.
Story: When Matthias and Beatrice wed each other, they both moved from Castle Duckula, to a large medieval-styled manor within Brașov, in order to start a new life together as a couple as well as to keep Matthias’ vampire title hidden from others.
Igor and Nanny remained at Castle Duckula during this time, continuing their usual jobs and often dealt with visits from Dr Goosewing, kicking him out whenever he caused trouble.
Nanny was delighted when she heard the news of the birth of Finnius, but Igor wasn’t so much, as he knew that the child would not share the same vampiric instincts as his ancestors did.
When Finnius was born, he inherited quite a few of his father’s vampiric traits; the ability to teleport and having no reflection in mirrors being only a couple of them.
However, one of his stranger vampiric traits are his fangs, which began to show around the age of 2. Since neither his mother nor father have them, the Matthias believes that this trait may have been a result of his constant resurrections.
Although Finnius’ fangs are much smaller than his ancestors’, many of the children around the town still feared them, thinking that the young duck would attempt to bite them.
Because of this, Finnius would often stay at home and only venture into the garden, or occasionally go with his mother to buy groceries instead.
As he grew, Finnius learned about his vampire heritage when he and his parents visited Castle Duckula and he accidentally came across a book on the Duckula ancestry in the library. Though the book frightened Finnius at first, the Count reassured him that only his ancestors took part in the horrific acts and that he didn’t have to follow their traditions.
Likes: Gardening, spending time outdoors, his parents, playing with Fluffykins and practising his teleportation abilities
Dislikes: His fangs, being feared by others, loud noises and learning of his ancestors’ horrific acts
