The "Cool motive, still murder" meme comes to mind.

Awww -_- ....So they created a villain, and then wined when he set out for revenge. Figures -_- .

However, by doing what he did, he's just creating more like him. Passing the pain along. Vengeance is never the Answer -_- .

Exactly. It dosn't take a Monster to make a Monster. It just takes one bad decision.

And that's why, kids, if you want to stage an extermination, you've got to be thorough! If you kill 99.9% of germs, the .1% will only come back stronger. Remember, only the survivors hear his story told, so make sure your genocide is absolute!

The Humans made a bad choice in giveing into the prophecy and letting fear rule them. As it lead to the rise of they're Villan. The Dragon made a bad choice in becomeing exactly what they said he was and takeing life, after life, after life.

Things could have turned out much differently if either group had made better choices. For Example, not hunting down and slaughtering dragons, or seeking justice instead of vengance. And before you say anything, they are never the same thing.

What if...They didn't eliminated the dragons, just took them prisoner. They all could be alive -maybe underground- and Disaster Dragon wouldn't know better.

On the other hand, your "destroy everything" method sounds effective...I love effectiveness! >:3

There are those that exist that will never stop until that thing they say is evil is gone, they can only be destroyed or broken. They made there bed, now they can lay in it.

Perfect Example of what you just describded. Then you have never ending War. Anger leads to Fear, Fear leads to Hate, Hate leads to Suffering. A deep and that swallows it's own tail Endlessly.

So attacker and victim are both at fault? The people being literally tormented for existing are  just as responsible for being tormented as the tormentors?
Otlan
3 years, 2 months ago
In a way, yes. The Dragon didn't just go after the King of the Kingdom that attacked him, did he? No. He attacked the ENTIRE Kingdom. He killed people who had NOTHING to do with the attack. How meany broken families do you think he left in his wake? How meany more monsters do you think he created by letting his hatred consume him? And it wasn't just one Kingdom. Every time a Kingdom grew in power, he attacked it, and destroyed more lives, more families, made even more Monsters.

Actions have consequences. People seem to like to forget that when they they think they're cause is justified -_- .

Yes they do, you can’t launch an unprovoked assault on a family without consequences, they launched an extermination campaign because some mage or book gave a vague prediction, funny how that part is glossed over. No attempt at peace, no attempt at validating the over glorified fortune cookie/teller, just straight to the extermination. As you said EVERYTHING has consequences , this includes the slaughter of group that they intended to wipe out with little to no proof of an actual threat. The dragon your trying to paint in black and white terms IS an orphan that did nothing to deserve losing there family.
Otlan

And how meany people has the Dragon Slaughters since then. Thousands? Tens of Thousands? Hundreds of Thousands? People and not People have watched they're frineds and family members burned Alice's, crushed to death, eaten and god only knows what else. Now the survivors know his pain, his suffering. Now they're hatred for him and Dragons will grow more. Now they will most likely become Dragon Slayers and perpetuate the Cycle.

The point I am trying to make, is that Violance and Vengance are not the answer. The Humans should not have given in to the prophecy. The Dragon should have found a diffrent way. Instead, The Humans killed every dragon that looked like him they could find and killed his mother. In teturn, the Dragon became no better then them, and became the Villan they said he was. Bad Choices all around -_- .

May not be a pleasant thought, but sometimes you have to be brutal to survive. The Dragon did not want to be killed, this group of humans showed clear intent and let’s face it, they had a flimsy excuse and went with it. Peace/a better way is fine when it works, but vast majority of the time they will not back down until the “other” wiped out.
Otlan
3 years, 2 months ago
So because one group of people made a bad call, everyone deserves to suffer? The dragon isn't do this to survive. We don't even know how long ago his family was attacked, nor for that matter if he was still hunted after said attack. If he was still hunted after said attack, then ya, I could see his motives for attacking the human kingdom as being justified. But the other Kingdoms? The ones who had nothing to do with the attack? No, there is no justification in that. It's fruity, plain and simple.
Otlan
3 years, 2 months ago
And I keep saying Human, but looking at the Soilders in the pic, they have pointed ears and demonic tails, so we don't even know who was behind the attack. For all we know, these people could have been lieing and attacked and killed his mother to turn him into a Villan. There's still a lot we don't know.

It’s nice to think everyone can be just, that every thing can work out. It’s nice to want to break “the cycle”.  However the only way that can actually happen is either peace, or victory. Given the time and setting, it’s not hard to see that peace is not going happen. Add that in to a blatantly unprovoked extermination campaign, and that leaves victory. A group willing to go that far won’t stop when asked nicely to do so.
Otlan
3 years, 2 months ago
A fair point, I can't argue that. We'll just have to see how the story ends then. Personally, I hope for peace. But given the serious turn in tone this story took, I fear you may be right.

Ah the Temporal Causality Paradox, You try to prevent an event but by doing so you become the catalyst to create the event in the first place becoming a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy. I feel bad for "Bad Guy" dragon now, they made him the monster that they feared.

So, which Kingdom was the one that started this mess in the first place?
Raust
3 years, 2 months ago
I think everyone is overlooking the other kingdoms that were destroyed that had nothing to do with that event. Some justification can be laid upon the first, albeit a thin one, the others beyond that can not be justified.

Unless a group of nations was involved in that self-fulfilling prophecy the atrocities committed would at most justify destroying the castle, army and nobility of the nation responsible, but the excuse wears rather thin when they started not just destroying other countries but doing it with such open glee, excusing it as 'they were weak, they had it coming'.

Tragic backstory to be sure, but not one that in any way justifies their actions.

An Anti-Villian.....I can stand behind that. Though we don't Really have all the answers do we? Yes the profit spoke of a Destroyer, but that was a Very Vague description. So it would be wrong to destroy all of the Beautiful Dergs, just as it would be wrong to destroy all of the profits people or the profit themselves. In the end I believe it is the profit and those who follow them that is to blame for they chose war over peace, when peace was acceptable. For either to give in now would would be to admit wrong doing. Only if Both come to the same conclusion and admit equally their faults and mistakes could this be resolved.
This is my opinion and I may be a bit biased as I am a Dragon, so there! 🤔
Killereye

1. Dark Dragon with Red Eyes will come and destroy everything.
2. They try to halt the prophecy by force and aggression.
3. A prophecy that makes itself real. Aggression bears forth even more aggression.
4. Stupid people doing stupid things, then reaping the Hailstorm of their sowing aggression in the first place.

Clearly, they should have TAKEN every  Dark Dragon with Red Eyes and raise them to be good, OR making sure that all of such is taken good care and have a good life. That would ensure peace for at least a few hundred of years...They took an aggressive approach, and then cry because of the aggressive reaction. Prophecies are stupid. Mortals are stupid. :(

Also just so everyone has something to think about: Seeing the future/having a prophecy is one of the worst CURSE to have! If you see the 100% future, then you can't change it! That is why you see it clearly! Trying to change the 100% future is nigh-impossible, and most likely every try to do so only ensures that future to came true. Example: The prophecy above got a bad reaction, and indeed created Disaster Dragon. Seeing the 100% future/having true prophecy is a CURSE! You can see it coming, and you are powerless to do anything to change any bad things!

Side mention: Seeing the MOST POSSIBLE future based on CURRENT state of things is still nice, since it gives a way to change bad things...hopefully!
