Nature has rules. Life and death are two of these rules. If you're supposed to be alive, you live. If you're supposed to be dead, you die. Rarity, according to nature, is supposed to be dead, but isn't. So nature isn't working right in Rarity's presence. As a result, nature sent someone to kill her to correct the error.

That's how I interpreted this, anyway.
