A scenario that people in Germany saw during the Nazi era was there were several allied factions who started out not yet loosing their freedom of speech. There was a particular said faction that was only somewhat in agreement with Nazi values, but were allied with the other factions. One day, when the Nazi government started cracking down on freedom of speech, that said faction didn't care about other allied factions loosing their freedom of speech as long as it didn't happen to them. An allied faction would loose their freedom of speech, and the said faction would say, "At least it's not us". Another allied faction would loose their freedom of speech, and that said faction would say, "At least it's not us". And another allied faction would loose their freedom of speech, and that said faction would say, "At least it's not us". Then finally, that said faction was the only faction left...other than the government. When the Nazi government came after them, they said, "Hey. Where are our allied associates now that the government is now coming after us?" That faction fell alone with no other faction left to join in support.
You made a good point in that last frame. A scenario that people in Germany saw during the Nazi era
The part about sending dissidents to the gulag isn't about FurAffinity staff specifically but rather about leftists in general. You're going to cheer it on when things get bad enough that the government starts locking away undesirables. You're going to continue having no self-awareness of your destructive belief system; even when it finally comes back and bites you with you being rounded up and imprisoned, unpersoned, or killed for being "too far right", you'll still curse conservatives who warned you all along with your last breath.

Personally I feel they're more akin to the Reign of Terror than to communism or fascism. All three were similar in practice, but I think the flightiness and shallowness of La Terreur fits most closely.
Also, it's the height of wishful thinking if you believe that the Republicans aren't in bed with big business too, or that the other Abrahamic religions aren't also violent oppressors.
They each only exist to make the each other look better by comparison

Republicans are in bed with big business, yes. I'd say probably less than half of Republican politicians are decent people with the actual good of the nation at heart, but you could probably count the Democrats who are that way over the past century on your fingers. Republicans are deeply, deeply imperfect but Democrats are just openly evil, and I've specifically targeted Republican hypocrisy and moral weakness repeatedly across any comic where it's relevant.
Islam is a violent oppressor. Judaism is an isolationist, defensive religion with a duty to self-defend against invasive, idolatrous forces that insert themselves into their (clearly defined and finite) borders. Christianity is a liberating ideology that sets people free from tyranny, and surface trappings of it are sometimes co-opted by oppressive forces to act as a bait or cover. They're fundamentally different, and your repeated anti-Christian comments show you really don't understand the history of the Church or the fact that even the worst authoritarian regimes of the Christian West were still freer and gentler than any secular, pagan, Muslim, etc. government in the history of the world.
