Tobias is a character from an alternate history setting that I'm working on.
In it, America is settled by Germans and the Dutch instead of the British and French. The Amerikaan Rijk/Amerikanische Reich is ruled by a Keizer/Kaiser that is elected every 5 years and is usually Dutch because the Germans can never agree on a Kaiser because the various German ethnic groups want a Kaiser of their group. The Dutch candidate tends to win based on 2nd choice in ranked preferential voting from the German majority.
Tobias Vreemd is a bit of a controversial figure in the Rijk's history. He is a practitioner of a religion that is his world's version of Mormonism. It allows him to have one wife, but multiple concubines. This is a huge no-no in a nation where everyone tends to practice monogamy. He has a wife, 9 concubines, and 30 children.
