Performance anxiety? Or maybe it's because Mare-Do-Well isn't an actual living being, so therefore this would have no effect on them? I guess that unless Mare-Do-Well can talk and explain themselves, we won't be getting any answers anytime soon...

My guess is that she thought she was a soul bound to a construct. But in this case what she is is a soulless construct that's resonating within existing living Soul. The resignation is what's keeping the construct anchored in physical reality. I left she's willing to locate and kill the anchor the Battleship before her show not sink. I'm reminded of Cry Little Sister you shall not fall.
