This commercial may have very well survived on the air into 1960...After all, it did come on TV during the Jet Jackson show one rainy August morning in 1960 at the home of Al, Marge and the cubs.

In the mid 1950s, Kix use to be promoted by The Captain Midnight Show, as they also promoted Ovaltine.
When the rights to the show were bought out, and the name changed to Jet Jackson the Flying Commando, the makers of Kix (General Mills) and Ovaltine were no longer official sponsors the show.
Thus in the posting, the prelude with Captain Midnight promoting Kix is left off, in the way it would be providing the commercial still aired in 1960.

Below is a link to that commercial, with the Captain Midnight prelude as it appeared in 1956;

Back when they weren't 50% sugar. Not that it ever affected me, cereal makes me feel clogged up and sick.

About the only cereals I like are Shredded Wheat, Wheaties and Cheerios.

Now this product I remember!  The commercials for this cereal were still around in the 70's.  The font used for the name was different, but the picture was still the same.

As for my favorite cereals, they're Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Froot Loops, and Frosted Flakes.
