They are characters Beerus gathered under his wing from across multiverse to form his own special team of retainers.
One must know that my DB pictures take place in an alternate reality or timeline from Xenoverse.
In this reality the Time Patroller, Sideris, met Beerus through and, intrigued -and feeling bored-, went on a time mission with him. A mission against Janemba. Beerus found some interest in multiverse exploration afterward and notably to kill boredom. So he went on solo mission himself and met some of his future Heralds.
The Heralds are characters Beerus gathered under his wing due to some personal interest for them, because they impressed him in a way or another or found potential in them even training some. while the Herald also joined him out of interest and accepted to be his retainers.
There are five of them, and all from alt reality : Imperfect Cell, Janemba, Bergamo, Babidi and Kushary (in that order), as well as Majin Buu as honorary members. So, here's who they are :
Durra Cell (Imperfect Cell)
-Cell was the first Heralds and the most loyal. In his reality he was created to destroy but after a fateful encounter and first defeat by an adult Gohan, Cell found himself more interested in fighting strong opponents than destroying the world and after a revenge over Gohan he realised how fun it was to fight worthy challengers and sought for more. One after the other the most powerful fighters were non-lethally taken down and so he left Earth to go on a long quest to find other strong people in the universe. He did find some but beat them all as well (minus the gods he was oblivious of).
A year or so of mindless fighting gave him a sour taste as he realized how empty his life. As he was left with nothing much to do. He returned on Earth to find it attacked by aliens. With no one strong enough to face them due to Cell's previous fights, Cell thought it was his responsibility to defend his planet and did so. Being Earth defended gave him a pleasant feeling and a new objective as he slowly became a hero under the nickname of “Durra” even along other Earth’s heroes.
It was as such that he met Beerus, or at least the one from another dimension. They fought each other and for the first time in years Durra was defeated but Beerus did recognize the force of Durra and offered to join him as retainer. He did accept and if they did have a master/servant relationship they did become closer to the point that Durra became the favorite of Beerus among the Heralds. Which is mutual, as Durra likes taking care of Beerus’ most carnal pleasure as well as training under him.
Bergamo the Swordsaint of Hope
-Bergamo isn’t much different than in the original timeline, beside being a master swordsman who has lost one eye in a previous fight and having his brothers long dead. Veteran fighter and top of his universe, he was selected to participate in the exhibition match for Zeno. Just like we knew it, if he wins then the universe won’t be destroyed… and they never were as Bergamo won the exhibition match with enough panache to please Zeno. Already a hero in his universe, he became a legend after and was hired by Beerus who was present at the exhibition match. He offered Bergamo to form and make him stronger so that he could return with more power to defend his universe, as his hakaishin, Sidra, wouldn’t have the right mind to train him.
Bergamo accepted and with him the Heralds took form.
Janemba (and Buu)
-Beerus met Janemba in a Time Patrol mission, and defeated him, helping Sideris the Time Patroller. Later, Beerus returned to this reality along Durra and Buu (who he encountered during one of Bulma’s parties that went into a fight between the two of them. But at the end ended up appreciating each other even if Buu refused to be an Herald and instead stays with Satan, tho still ok with having some occasional fun with Beerus). After a fight and some fun Janemba accepted to join the Heralds mostly out of lust for battle and some fun. Tho so far he remains the most unstable of the Heralds.
Babidi
-Babidi was a known powerful wizard who had control over people and demons’ minds, an excellent magic user as well as powerful dark art practitioner due to a staff he has taken and sealed its owner inside, a demon known as Demigra that Babidi can summon and take power from. So when Janemba lost his mind under the lust and other factors, Beerus decided to go in the afterlife and bring back Babidi that he heard off through Whis : Babidi’s mission ? Calm down Janemba through his mind control power, as Beerus wasn’t really down to kill Janemba. Babidi accepted and joined the Heralds as a magic user would be a good addition for the team and he would no more be in hell as long as he remains useful.
Kushary
-He is an odd case as he joined them uninvited. Actually, Kushary was sent by the Great Priest to investigate Beerus’s activity after this one formed the Heralds and ressussited Babidi. Kushary’s job is known only by a few Gods of Destruction, such as Liquiir, and Angels aside, even the Kaioshins don't know much about him. Which is part of the job. So, Beerus was unaware of who Kushary was when this one asked to join the Heralds, somewhat infiltrating them in becoming Beerus’ retainers. Spending time with them allowed him to understand what Beerus was up to and what to report to the Great Priest after his mission is done. Until then he did enjoy his time with the Heralds.
